j80leo
Compression test leak down test if no good fuel pressure regluator wastegate oil cooler screamer pipe/recirc pipe What miles are on the engine as if its alot then parts will be tired and need changing for stock new parts or modded depending how much horsepower you are wanting. Jamesy
wow didnt realise you dont actually need masses of aftermarket spec to get a single on there. Obviously a remap in there after too!! I have pretty much the same as you ADD minus the injectors and EMU ... hmmmm, you have put BAD thoughts in my mind dude.
j80leo
You don't need loads of bits some are extra's and piece of mind;) just buy quality bits but this is where the money comes into it.
Alex
650cc injectors would be good but you could probably get one up and running at 0.8bar on the 550's.
Tricky-Ricky
I can run up to 1.35 BAR on my 540cc injectors, i suspect they are actually flowing 600cc or over, Anyway to respond to the original question i would say you have it pretty much covered, just add an oil cooler, obviously with all the turbo ancillaries. paul mac
have a look in my garage as i have run a T61 for the last 4 years, before you rush out and buy a tubular manifold i would seriously consider a cast manifold, unless you plan on running 700hp in the future , faster spool and much more compact, also a 3200rpm hi stall torque converter will absolutely transform the car Edited December 2, 2009 by paul mac (see edit history)
heckler
Cast Manifold here too...
ADD
Thanks all for ya responses sorry for late reply, im working night shifts this week. The car has done 105k and i would most def get a compression and leak down test done before going any further. When you say turbo ancillaries what exactly are they? How much woukld i be looking at for a T61 price wise?
Tricky-Ricky
" When you say turbo ancillaries what exactly are they?" Basically manifold, turbo, down pipe, waste gate, screamer pipe, oil and water feeds and drains, pipework, filter, you seem to have the rest. Homer
It's been pretty much covered already, but would just add that if you are not aiming for really high power figures I'd seriously consider a cast manifold over the tubular ones. With a smaller turbo like the T61 it makes much more sense. Only drawback is they don't sound that great, but that's a minor thing
ADD
lads that awesome thank you very much for the information! Then the cost of fitting of course Homer is there a big price difference between tubular and cast? The noise is rather important
Homer
Homer is there a big price difference between tubular and cast? The noise is rather important Cast tends to be cheaper but a lot depends on which system you choose - that's the really important bit. Noise wise I would say the cast is a bit quieter, but they do have their drawbacks. From the half dozen or so I've heard or driven they don't sound quite as nice off boost, but with an open screamer pipe you won't notice any difference once it's on full chat. ADD
Cheers homer, it would seem the manifolds are more expensive than the turbo :
Steve
Some folks on here have used the Treadstone Cast Manifold which are very well priced. http://www.treadstoneperformance.com/product.phtml?p=325&cat_key=52&prodname=Toyota+Supra+2JZGTE+Turbo+Manifold
Homer
Cheers homer, it would seem the manifolds are more expensive than the turbo :0 Tubular ones tend to be, but cast are a lot less.
