edge
Depends on what power you want from it mate and what you will be using it for. Would be lovely to see a 2jz rx7 build. Its pretty hassle free and ALOT cheaper putting up with 400bhp ish from a stock bpu'd motor. Add another £10k for a decent single turbo install. I would recommend fitting a stock TT see how you get on then up the power later on. Got any pics of your rex?
JamieP
Welcome. On a Rx7 id imagine a bpu setup on stock twins would be plenty, A good single setup are huge fun but to do it right you need deep pockets. Lets have some pics:)

Tom
I'd go 1JZ personally, lighter, will fit under the hood easier due to lower height as it's a shorter stroke(2.5) it's still very stong and will cost you a whole lot less to buy, and its what tech 2 use in theirs anyway mate it up with a R154 box and you're done
safcdixon
yeah i know the 1jz is cheaper lighter but im doin to be the best and theres alot more aftermarket parts avaieble.and johny g the bonnet already for sale on japnortheast i hate it also was gonna buy a new one when i got the car but it blew up 175km after i got it im on the look out for a standerd one because i needs a big bulge init to fit the jz in

Chris Wilson
Has anyone looked at fitting the Nissan or Toyota V6 engines in an RX-7 FD? I would have thought they'd be a better bet myself.
garethr
Stick a V8 in it http://www.v8rx7forum.com/v8-rx-7-build-threads/50814-427ci-fd-england.html
Chris Wilson
That's a stunning looking FD, you know sometimes, in moments of sheer madness I contemplate buying another FD. Then I realise it's akin to a bitterly divorced man re marrying and I see the light 3.5 Chrysler V6 in one would be lovely jubbly.
Guest vintage21275
ive always liked the look of RX7, especially the inside of them but stayed away due to the all the engine problems they have, but with a 2jz/1jz it wouldbe the ultimate
Guest Garfy
this guy will give you evernything you need http://www.2jzswap.com/enter.html and its worth noting that some consider the 1jz to be a nicer engine

j_jza80
There's a full write up on LS1 conversions for the FD RX7 in this months Practical Performance Car magazine. http://www.ppcmag.co.uk/ Apparently the LS1 weighs around the same as the 13B rotary so it doesn't upset the handling I'm very tempted by one as a weekend toy at the moment. j_jza80
They will upset the handling, most definitely. I say full write up, but you have to take everything these magazines say with a pinch of salt. They make out that using an auto car is better for the conversion as the diff is more suited, but fail to mention anything about the pedal box and associated difficulties. The T56 tranny must weigh a fair bit too. They seem to be sticking 4 cylinder Ford Duratecs into them quite a bit in the states now. I'd really like one of these cars but not the hastle and poor economy of the wankel. The F20c Honda iVTEC as found in the S2000 seems to be lighter than the 13B from what info I can find on the net, with similar characteristics to the rotaries (lots of revvy power, little torque) yet with much better fuel economy. Maybe this would make a more suitable swap? Personally I would not use a 2jz for the swap. The weight of the motor and transmission must be getting on for twice that of the RX7, and much of the weight will now be pushed forward of the front suspension. Good luck with the project though.
