Rob
Just passed my MOT with an advisory for the start of some pitting to the rear discs. The rear discs were new (second hand) items and cleaned up perfectly. I also ran the existing pads on a sander just to flat them off and remove any glaze. After a few months from the brake rebuild there is now a thin strip, say 20mm, of bare clean metal on the rear discs while the rest is starting to rust again. If it continues it will end up in a channel worn into the discs, like I had before. I can't think why this is happening as the brakes are all fully refurbed and lubed up. Any ideas? (changing to new pads being the most obvious)
Ark
You aren't making full contact accross the whole pad surface. It's common on NEW pads and disks, but sorts itself out quickly enough. However, you have OLD pads and disks. I'd look at the shape of the pads and see if they have become tapered, or just replace them for new ones. Rob
Aye, I'll have a look when I clean them all up again.
