Matt H
Yesterday morning, I came down stairs and heard quite a loud retching noise. I went into the kitchen to observe our kitty vomiting up a large amount of bile, which contained what I believe, was a little batch of roundworm. The ‘worms’ weren’t moving, just curled up in circles. I’m not 100% sure, but after looking at some images on the web, it looks like the most likely explanation to what they were. After this, the cat goes off and sits in her bed, looking very under the weather. As the day progresses, my GF observes her twitching. Monday morning comes and she’s not in a good way, extremely week and can hardly walk, still twitching now and again. It’s mad how quickly this has happened, as during Saturday night she appeared fine. She’s been to the Vets this morning and had an Anti-inflammatory, some Antibiotics and a pain killer injection; but the Vet isn’t 100% sure what’s wrong. Right now, we’ve got to wait until after lunch to see it there is any improvement, otherwise she’s got to go back and be admitted. So my question is, does anyone with experience of Cats, know what this may be? Thanks Matt

This club has loads of cat owners, and asking whether in that wealth of experiance, anyone has had come across anything similar with symptons is a sound way of trying to understand this a bit better. Our cats life may hang in the balance, so anything I can gather, however small right now would be a blessing.

j80leo
There has been alot of cases where people have been giving cat's anti freeze which kills them over a period of weeks and very painful:(
Tricky-Ricky
First off, how old is the cat? has it been eating OK, i ask this because cats can become constipated, and if its getting serious, one of the symptoms is vomiting, however if your vet is any good he/she would of checked for this? I don't have much experience of worms as our lot don't go out and hunt so they never really have any worm problems, so not much help there i'm afraid. There is one vet on here, and it is a Steve, not sure which one , but i'm pretty sure he is based in Scotland if that helps. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/member.php?u=3217 Edit, pretty sure its the is Steve, Trouble is there is a lot that can make cats vomit, apart from doing it as a pastime, so its difficult to tell, but if you can think of anything unusual the cat has been doing recently may help. Cheers Steve, I've PM'd Mr Kid There has been alot of cases where people have been giving cat's anti freeze which kills them over a period of weeks and very painful:( That would be horrible My GF doesn't let her out though, as she's brought so much wildlife back, she's banned now! She's about 1.5 years old. She was eating o.k. It's come across all of a sudden. She has been a little picky of late, but I'm not sure if that's just a cat thing or this problem. When she puked up though, there was no food in the bile. I can tell you by the presents in the kitty litter she's been pooing fine Cheers Tricky,

Thorin
It'll be worms of some sort, especially as you've noted that she has eaten her fair share of wildlife. Unfortunately depending on what worm it is, it can be very serious. Fingers crossed she makes a recovery.

Seeing her not even able to move properly now is really worrying
Jezz
My last cat had this, and as yours did, was throwing up bile and worms. Does she seem all limp and not interested in anything? If its the same, it'l be a severe worm infection, and the wormers should sort it out. Took about 3 days for my cat to start cacking them all out, then she was fine. Yeah, sounds just the same, legs wobble when you try and get her to stand. Glad there's a light at the end of the Tunnel then, 3 days isn't that bad. Matt H
She's now been admitted at the vets, and is on a drip poor mite
Guest DaphneHoneybutt
Hi Matt Really hope she will be OK. my first thought on it was poisoning (including anti freeze) as it sounded very similiar to what happened to a friends cat, but if she doesn't go out then agree with general consensus thats its a bad case of worms. Medication definately takes a few days to kick in but if you are worried about her in the meantime take her straight back to vet as they may put her on a drip just keep her hydrated etc. I have five cats and know how much of a worry they can be! keep us informed sam
