Elliot
I've just been out to get some petrol for tomorrow and on my way back, I pulled right out of a junction fairly quickly, up to 30 in no time, then foot off and was sitting at about 32mph. (on the speedo) Up ahead, there was a police van (meatwagon) in a side road which had been sat there the whole time. As I was approaching it pulled out a couple of foot into the road to make me move over into the other lane! I carried on driving & watched in my mirror as it pulled out & started following me. Around 200m up the road the van had its lights on, so it pulled over for it to pass, but it pulled up behind me! I sat there wondering what law I'd broken & the policeman came up to my window & told me that 'even though I had a fast car, to slow down' I said sure, no problem & pointed out that I didn't break the speed limit & wasn't driving dangerously. Once again, he said 'just slow down' & once again, I said OK sure. I then asked him if he was the driver of the van, and he said 'yes'. I then asked him why did he pull out into the road on me & he said 'to get you to slow down' I just sat there & chuckled while he walked back to his van. I know it probably sounded like I was doing more than 30 from the acceleration and the NUR spec, but is it police procedure to do this sort of stuff if they 'think' you're going too fast? michael
I once got pulled over for "looking like" I was going to overtake someone - this was in the middle of a busy town and I had a policecar behind me. What kind of idiot uses a crap excuse like that to pull someone? (This was in a 1.4 Fiesta BTW, not something capable of a speedy pass)
Elliot
Who me? Or the copper that stopped Elliot? LOL I'm sure he could have been a right arse about it & checked the car over for faults etc, but I don't get why he pulled into the road. You'd think a trained police officer would have better judgement than to try that sort of thing. Wonder what would of happened if I'd panicked & lost control moving over? He'd just say I was speeding & I'd be in the 'creek' so to say! Or would they get CSI out to prove the case!?
supra steveo
you should of asked him if he checked his mirrors before moving off to check the road was clear and that his driving was a little dangerous
Bobbeh
Nope! Offically, but unofficially they do whatever they like.
Ian R
or he was just killing time because he had already been for 20 cups of tea and 10 burgers and had nothing better to do as catching criminals isn't part of their job
Green Peace
I had a run in with some copper driving a Trojan van once. I was on the way to a job on the South Bank and this policeman (with a female acomplish) one IC1 female and IC3 male (sorry trying to talk like a policeman now) were in the wrong lane and then swerved forcing me into on-coming traffic. ..I tooted my horn at him in defience..he then pulled me up and we were there for a good 15 minutes, he then sent the WPC back to the van (I guess coz he realised what a pratt hed made of himself) I then rang Putney Nick and got several calls back from a very apologetic Super telling me he was very sorry and that this officer was an Outstanding one normally...I said well Yes I agree he was certainly outstanding today he almost had me in a head on collision... Didn't fill in a complaints form, just hope it knocked a few slates off of his arrogant behaviour. People Power. Si
Supragal
you should of asked him if he checked his mirrors before moving off to check the road was clear and that his driving was a little dangerous Yeah, that woulda helped him I'm sure, police love it when you talk back to them
tbourner
If police cars look as if they're going to pull out (to follow you and pull you over) you should stop and flash them out in front! Especially in this case as they were half way out anyway. Then they feel obliged to and won't be behind you to pull you over!

SkyJawa
I have been stopped and know lots of others have because, and I quote directly, "it sounded like you were going fast"
Dale B
He's probably got a chip on his shoulder because he drives a Ford Ka and has a small willy Paul I thought it was all "us Supra blokes" that had small willys. Dont they say owning a fast car is to compensate for a lack of things else where in life (I know I am )

Masenko
Before I got the Speedo fixed, I was pulled over for apparently doing 80 in a 40 zone at 2am; but it sure didn't feel like 80. More like 55. But, I still got away with it.
