Konrad
I haven't been outdoors yet, this guy from youtube movie is simply insane You are right, it is quite mental tiring, but it's also great way to keep fit when you hate jogging or boring gym

Branners
My children love climbing, first sign of a climbing wall and they are there. They are 5 and 8 and can handle some fairly impressive climbs already. THis is my son when he was 7.

The-Plethora
Not so much 'climbing' but I love hill and mountain walking which can involve a bit of free climbing. So far I have done scafell pike (Englands highest), Ben Nevis (scotlands) and Snowdon (Wales) out of all of them and by far the best for beginners and the more advanced is snowdon. Snowdon I have completed by several different routes and you can go up one and come down another. If you want something a little more adventurous then there is Crib Goch which is a knife edge ridge leading up to a peak that ajoins snowdon, bring a spare pare of pants though ! stevie_b
I've dabbled in it (a couple of taster sessions), not seriously and haven't taken it up. Graham, whereabouts do you do your climbing? Craggy Island? Guildford Uni?

Well the missus and I do a lot of hill/mountain walking and figured this would be the next step. Liked it, so thought ice climbing... its just logical! Done Snowdon and Gylders, I prefer Glyders... Only done one route of Snowdon, but it had too many people, which is probably why I prefered Glyders. Scafell is next on the list, we want to do the corridor route. Looks awesome! I've dabbled in it (a couple of taster sessions), not seriously and haven't taken it up. Graham, whereabouts do you do your climbing? Craggy Island? Guildford Uni? We currently go to a place in Salfords, just outside Redhill. Only have up to 7a/7b routes and currently the 6b+ routes are the ones giving me a little grief, so looking at K2 in Crawley as well. Where you been?
stevie_b
I've only been to Craggy Island on the outskirts of Guildford 2 or 3 times. To my surprise I enjoyed it (I'm scared of heights), but I just don't have the time to pursue it.

I do the 6a, quite easily, but keep getting stuck on the 6b anyone used those power balls? Are they any good? Or are the foam grips just as good? Also looking to get a training board for home, so if anyone knows any decent ones
BOB B
Hi Graham. I've spent a lot of time walking/climbing in the lakes and one of the best climbs up Skafell is to drive to the NE end of Wast Water, park in the car park near "Bracenclose" then go up the path that runs alongside "Lingmell Gill" and up to the "Hollow Stones" and "Lords Rake". This is a pretty tuff route but spectacular, also do both peaks. When/if you go, drive over "Hardknott Pass", SE of Wast Water about 15 miles, if you think you have the "Kahooners", its one of the most impressive stretches of road anywhere, though most of the winter its impassable. Just read that back, sounds a bit controlling of me. Bob.
hogmaw
I'd love to start climbing again. I did a lot when I was young. We have one of the best indoor centres in the UK near where I live... I just wish I had the time. At present I have precisely 0 hours off each week for activities/fun
