Guest project2jz
i bought a aluminium radiator off ebay for my manual tt mkiv it was ment to be a straight swap but as i found out it is far from a straight swap has anyone ever fitted one of them before and can tell me what i need to do to make it fit. Also can anyone one tell me what the sensor in the bottom of the rad is for and is it important because the alli rad comes with a much larger hole and different type thread. Homer
Which model radiator is it and do you have a link to the add? Most aftermarket ones are not an easy fit, the shrouds often don't fit and the mounts don't always line up. The hole at the bottom of the rad is probably the secondary temp sensor. It's only used on the TT's I think. If it's the wrong sixe, you'll need an adaptor.

hodge
You dont need the sensor just leave it out mate. Is it an ASI rad. ive fitted a couple of these to members supras. The only issue was they sit a little high. Just polish some of the rubber mounts away where the rad locates at the bottom. apart from that there good bits of kit. There is some crap on ebay though. Stick up a link of the rad so we know what were dealing with matey.

hodge
Correct me if im wrong but arnt TT radiators ment to be 52mm thick. This is 57mm so, rad clamps wont fit and possibly clearence issues with the fan and fan shroud. Dont dismay though, im a total wiz in fitting stuff that wont fit (ask Bossco) lol. Outline all fitting issues and and ill tell you how to get round them.
Gambit
Not sure about the rad clamps Hodge as they don,t wrap over the whole rad, just the liped part on the top. Actually looking at the ebay it looks like they are central to the rad... not good. It looks mostly there, what isn't right? Pictures of mine for comparison, it's an auto so don't worry if you see something you don't have, like the oil pipe at the bottom. second picture down on the right(full shot on grass) shows a bolt point, top right that had to be removed with a dremel (nearest the clamp point). other than that it fitted perfectly. http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/5595/Dsc00056.th.jpghttp://img133.imageshack.us/img133/4096/Dsc00047.th.jpg http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/4185/Dsc00052.th.jpghttp://img133.imageshack.us/img133/7541/Dsc00046.th.jpg http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/9127/Dsc00048.th.jpghttp://img133.imageshack.us/img133/6941/Dsc00059.th.jpg http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/4906/Dsc00054.th.jpghttp://img133.imageshack.us/img133/1057/Dsc00055.th.jpg
