Maybe more if you have a manual & need to change the gearbox & clutch... then your looking at nearly double that. Going BPU is cheaper... around £700 - £1000? I wont be going any higher than BPU or BPU+ as changing the turbo's isn't likely. How much are the engines to buy?It must be quite a simple job to slot it in surely???' The + signs were something that Suprastore (who tried to tradmark BPU, but failed) as part of their sales packages for the BPU mods. DSK Posted November 26, 2009 Share Posted November 26, 2009 Cost of BPU from my experience this week; Whifbitz UK Double-Decat £215 Whifbitz Uprated SMIC £460 GReddy Cut Control Defender £85 Gizmo Boost Controller/Gauge £200 NGK Grade 7 colder spark plugs £60 + fitting costs If going from N/A > TT engine conversion route, I'd say try and source the correct uprated intercooler (side mounted or front mounted) as you go. RobD Posted November 26, 2009 Share Posted November 26, 2009 From keron ( who will be on you doorstep no doubt in leicester) , last time I looked he was charging £1700 for the conversion kit ( engine loom ecu etc) minus a clutch, Or £2300 fitted plus you have to buy a clutch ( most will recommend an a rps clutch for this or southbend!) which will setup you back somewhere inbetween £300-500, bpu your looking at another grand at least i'd say to do properly! When you say full BPU is that not BPU+ or BPU++ I was only thinking of changing the engine and clutch, having the cats removed (quoted £50 from my local powerflow specialist) and fitting a restrictor ring and the boost cut thing. I thought thats all i would need...maybe a fuel pump. I doubt id even bother with an FMIC as the standard 1 should be more than up to the job for what i want shouldn't it? This is the most popular kit provided by Whifbitz. It's the safest because you have indication with a boost controller. Click Stage 2 kit is nearly 300 quid less. If your smic is in good nick ok. Most have seen better days though. It may be wise to save up for a quality replacement or look at a fmic kit, also provided by Whifbitz if necessary. Full BPU is BPU, BPU+/++ are just marketing ploys by a store. If you went for a standard TT lump, your box might survive a fair while. At BPU, it may survive, it may not, but I would start saving for an uprated gearbox if BPU is really what you want. You will need to buy a SMIC or FMIC, as a non-turbo will not have one.
