Matt H
I’ve got a chap who wants to buy something from me and have it shipped to Australia. The chap hasn’t got any posts to his name, but he seems legit…. I want to cover my bases though, as postage will be a bomb. He’s requested Paypal for payment, which is probably the best way in this case (I think). Even though I despise the service... grr. I’ve have however, heard of stories where money has been reversed out of accounts after receipt of it. Now I don’t want to post this item off, only to come back to my account a few days later, and find the money has gone. So my question is: Is the above true? And if so, is there a period that you have to wait before that money cannot be taken back? Etc etc? Will I be safe? Ta Matt
supra_aero
If you aren't sure don't do it. Your instincts are telling you to watch out for a reason. He may be fine and genuine but is it worth the risk when it goes pear shaped. I wouldn't.
scotty71
Is it through ebay or just a private sale??

He may be fine and genuine but is it worth the risk when it goes pear shaped. I wouldn't. That's sound advice, but I've always been someone to give people the benifit of the doubt. I'm just wondering If I can make this 'scam proof' Is it through ebay or just a private sale?? Private sale, through this site.. supra part it's not of great value either, which could be a plus or a negative.
Animal
I'd ask for a bank transfer if it was me, that way there's no chance of the money disappearing after you've sent the stuff. If there does end up being a dispute, it's down to you to refund the money yourself.

scotty71
I have sold a few things on ebay and bought and the only time I have had issues is when the person said they didnt recieve the item. Well they might have not (It went to Canada) but then again they might have been trying it on! Because I used the paypal print label feature it was proof I sent the item so the case was dropped and I kept my money. To be honest Matt I dont think it will be an issue especially as you stated it is of low value and using Paypal does give the seller and the buyer protection. My advice on sending to Austrailia (as I sent about 5 dvd's there) is to send the part, use paypal printing label feature and for the customs slip as well. This will cover you 100% if the buyer says he never recieved as it will have a unique paypal code associated with the transaction. Thus proof you sent it so paypal will not refund the buyer. Hope this helps Matt but hey Supra_Aero's advice is just as good, but Im sure youll be ok PS nice single aerotop in your garage, should hopefully be getting my Supra real soon!! To send to a bank account from my online gives you sort code and account number but the banks around the world use different ways of identifying banks IE sort code
Animal
Can that happen internationally, Animal? I.e Bank in Oz to bank in UK? Yeah, I've done quite a few deals that way, mostly with Nic. The buyer just needs to either ring up or go into their bank and ask to set up an international bank transfer. Depending on the bank, there might be a slight charge, but it's not usually very much. scotty71
well Matt Ill tell ya where I am and you may see by my previous posts. I only joined the club two weeks ago and I am liking it here, I have been looking for a Supra for 3 months but the ones I see are alongggggggg way to go view!! I did see one in Notts that was for sale and I was inline to go to view if the guy from Sweden didnt show, he did and I was Gutted:blink: The car for sale was a black auto TT and it wasnt till it sold I had seen the guy was a member on here. I have 5.5 - 6k to spend so erm yes yours looks great BUT out of my price range!!!. After owing a 2wd Cosworth for 3 years up until last year the feeling from the guys on here is that an NA would bore me so Im holding out for a TT. Jurgen said he would try to source an auto TT for me so Im just awaiting his reply on how to start things off Pity there is not a localish member who would take me for a spin to see what the NA is like on power, but I know it would be slower than my old Cossie Rob
