boromfccup
Surely the insurance company would have sent out their own assessor to assess the damage? Surely they do a lot of this kind of thing and are going to realise a new bumper and slightly dented bonnet is not going to cost £4k? They'd want to get away with paying out as little as possible, which wouldn't be just writing the car off. the engineer told me he was going to use toyota main dealers, which i agreed, the intercooler was damaged, and bonnet and spoiler, then got the prices from them, bonnet 892.00 standard intercooler, 1200.oo standard bumper about, 400.00 there was 80ph labour charges, but my bumper and intercooler were not standard, so i got some prices online. , anyway no point posting any more, ive got a new bonnet, just need a bumper then selling, as above post in pistonheads the car made 4500.00 on a cat d not a patch on mine, thanks for your comments, sorry about my puncuation, iknow its not the best but its not an english exam is it? stevie_b
Before you get it repaired take comprehensive photos of the damage. Buyers can then make up their own mind as to whether it's worth the risk of buying the Cat D. If the damage isn't too bad this will work in your favour. Many people will assume the worst when a car is listed as written off, and will put in a very low offer accordingly. Think about it from a buyer's point of view. Mismatching or ill-fitting panels are relatively easy to spot, but what would trouble an experienced car buyer the most is the (potential) damage that's unseen. Maybe look into getting a report done to say that the car's chassis and wheels are straight and true. I don't know if such reports exist, but if they do, it would soothe the brow of a concerned buyer.
