caseys
Well if anyone's got a Lexus IS250, IS350 or ES350 (I think US models) they've got a free built in cruise control function! Also doubles up for an excuse for excessive speed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8281981.stm Carmaker Toyota has warned of safety problems with floor mats on some of its US models, which may cause the accelerator pedal to stick. And they're doing a recall? For fecking floor matts?

garethr
Happened on my 1998 GS300, but I was able to realise what had happened, brake, lift the accelerator pedal with my foot.... and remove the mat at the first opportunity. Where's my recall, then? Actually, there are a number of reports on LOC of this happening with the old IS200 and GS300, so it's nothing new. One contributor said, "Check if you have the retaining clips for the mat fitted. It was part of a safety "campaign" (they don't like the word "recall"!) to fit the clips after a few incidences like yours". Perhaps Toyota are more worried about American lawyers...
