Guest EasyRider3708
Hi there. Can I first just say what a great forum this is, very easy to use and it seems quite a lot of knowledgeable people on here. Now I'm hoping you guys can help me with a query...my question is simply can you use the sequential system to run both a SC and a large turbo? Do you TT owners have an electronic wastegate to switch off the smaller turbo when the larger one is in use? Any help or advice would be most appreciated. Jake
Hi, I'm not sure I understand the question. By "SC" do you mean Supercharger? If so, then no, that's not how superchargers work. TTs do not have an elec wastegate. Both turbos are the same size, there isn't a larger and smaller one. When the 2nd turbo is in use the first turbo is also still working. edge
A large turbo also requires a piggy back ecu or standalone
Guest EasyRider3708
Sorry for confusion guys. Basically I'm toying with the idea of fitting a large turbo (GT35) on a different car (non supra) and obviously this is going to mean a fair amount of lag. My thinking was to use the sequential system if possible, out of a TT and have a supercharger that works up to say 4000rpm. Could I not use the system off a Supra to do this or will something off a 300ZX work? The only other solution would be to use something off one of them SC-TC Golfs but I thought I would explore this avenue first. BTW I do have all the supporting mods, just a case of whether it is possible to make this work.
garethr
Leaving aside all the other issues...... Twin screw/positive displacement or centrifugal supercharger? I would guess the former, in which case, production superchargers (as on Mercs) usually have electronic clutches and bypass valves. edge
Would nitrous not be an option? less hassle?
Guigsy
I think the problem is that the supra uses one turbo and then switches to two. And not one and then the other. It also does a lot of fancy things like feeding air to the 2nd turbo just before it is "turned on" iirc. Someone wrote a great article somewhere but i have no idea where it is. So i doubt your plan would work. Someone in the usa has developed a kit with aftermarket turbos. But i think they are both still the same size? And its ludicrously expensive. I havent even seen one yet. lol Edit - Here you go http://www.boostlogic.com/xcart/product.php?productid=160&cat=9&page=1 but like i say. i dont think it uses anything stock.
