Any of you guys using this phone?

I just got mine couple days ago had a crash but I thought it was just one off... however this confirms its not:

I bought the phone second hand from eBay (unwanted upgrade) too so I guess there's no way to get compensation :(

I hope they will release a software fix available to all...

Apparently the crashing/software problem is bad enough that they have been withdrawn from sale by a some of the big mobile retailers.

You're joking!?

Hang on... I'm sure there was a thread with a link about that somewhere. Oh, I think we're already in it!

Oh dear, that's the phone I want to get on my new contract :(

It does say that Orange and Voda don't have any problems though... umm.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I've just ordered this phone too apart from it crashing whats the phone like?

I've had mine for about 6 weeks, it's slowed down a bit a couple of times, just waited 10 seconds and it works again. It's frozen once where I needed to remove the battery, it was whilst trying to refresh a webpage, went faded as if a message was popping up, and nothing happened.

Other than that I love it though, it's a great phone. But having come from non smart-phones I've nothing to compare to, so obviously I'm going by the improvement in web browsing and stuff.

I'm on Vodafone by the way, but you can choose the standby theme and I didn't like the Vodafone one so I'm using the SE one.

Well i've had 5 different SE phone the Satio will be my 6th. Out of the 5 2 have crashed a few time when I got them but Sony then bring out updates to sort the problem. It seems they rush to get the phone out then sort the glitches out after. So I wouldn't worry if you have one already as i'm sure they'll be an update out soon.

How do you update them? Can you do it from their site or do I need to connect it to a PC or something?

Can you tell I've never had a smart phone!

I'm not sure on the Satio but on my SE W995 if you go into settings then general and you'll see update service click on this then it searches for updates. (It will connect to the internet)

:rlol:

My phone only crashed once to be honest and its on 24/7. I really like it, its sleek and have powerful features. I just need to figure out how to get free Apps...

Only gripe is the hand writing recognition though. Unless you use a stylus (or you have pencil thin fingers) its a pain. So I mostly use the Qwerty keyboard. However, there's an option to train the handwriting interface I think. Haven't really muck around too much yet.

Oh, the camera, its FREAKING amazing!!! It's just like having your own real digicam. Took tons and tons of pics lol. And its easy to organise them. You can post them straight to Facebook too with an app.

All in all, its not bad esp if you take a lot of impromptu shots. Only gripe is the touch screen. It's resistive instead of capacitive so its not that accurate sometimes.

Resistive is more precise, just you have to press it harder than the capacitive types. You can't use the stylus on cap screens though it only works with touch - so you can't use gloves or anything either. Not sure which I prefer TBH.
