NA supercharger build

Been around the scrapyard and picked up 3 air boxes one from a mondeo, the other from a rover, but i cant remember what the third one is from for the life of me.As it works out the third one will fit best with a bit of cutting and glueing.S o if any body can tell me what its from that would be nice. The air filter is from halfords HAF402 ,but i still cant seem to find a link to what vehicle its from.

Looks like it was made for the job Barn

The bypass valve has arrived. Now another dilema.Which way round do i plit in.Looking at the pic the side facing you has the vacum pipe before the butterfly, does this go before the charger or after it.Just looked at magnusuns site and they say that the flange side has to go on the intake pipe and the 1 1/2" tube connects to the discharge side of the charger.I had this all planned until somebody said that they would do it the other way around. Now if i actually understood how this thing worked it would be a lot easier.

When i suck on the pipe going to the actuator the butterfly opens,as this is a self contained unit i dont have to have a seperate vacum feed from the plenum. How would it open the butterfly when the throttle is let off and shut it when throttle is applied.

The valve goes inbetween, before and after the charger, and the vacuum comes from after the throttle body.

i know that ,question was what way around does the bypass valve have to be.this unit is designed so the vacum pipe stays where it is feeding from one side of the butterfly to the actuator if i was to remove it and give a feed to the actuator from my plenum i would have an open vacum pipe.

Got the bypass valve connected today .It is now fiited to the airbox and connects to the elbow on the discharge side of the supercharger.Things are getting rather tight on that side of the engine bay now.

took the plugs out and cleaned them ,but the car will not start now its just making the pu pu pu pu sound as it tries to fire.Took a couple of the plugs back out and they were soaking wet so i am definately overfueling. Will try a different map again tomorrow got a fiew to choose from that Ian has sent.

Best of luck with it all Brendan, really hope it works out :)

Are AFR going to be mapping and doing a dyno? I for one am very much looking forward to seeing the torque curve this produces

Thats the plan mate,i have every faith they can get it sorted this time.Ian has helped getting it running and we should have a better map on there when it goes up.Going to have the video camera fully charged aswell.

Got the car running again, turns out my plugs were at fault this time.the spark was coming from the base of the tip and weak.So some new denso plugs were fitted and away it went first time. The bypass valve is working perfectly ,open on tickver and closing when quick throttle operation is applied. The noise level is down slightly with the airbox and flexy pipe.Going to lag the intercooler pipes later. If this works out then i will get hold of another charger and totally rebuild it to eliminate any wear noise from the charger.

quick vid showing the bypass valve operating.

just found out the air filter box is from a 2001-2005 mg/zt 2.5,or a 1.8 turbo

fitted the sard fpr back on today car still running so descided to turn it around so the exhaust wasnt close to the wall, and car sounds even quieter. Was so tempted to give it a blast down the road but i resisted. Not sure if i need to get the meth/water injection wired in yet,as i dont want it mapped with it .Just want to use it as a safe gaurd anyway.

got half a tank of fuel in the supra ready and done a mini service on the van.Getting close now ,picking up the trailer tomorrow afternoon so i can shoot off early monday morning.

Good luck with the journey mate! I would have offered to pick up the spoiler from Hastings and dropped it at AFR for you if my wheels were not with Speedwells sorry could have saved you a few miles! :( fingers crossed Dude can finish her off for you! :)

going to take it nice and steady as i want to conserve as much fuel as i can ,the budget is tight fuel wise to get up there and back plus get the bits i need to pick up.

I have every faith this time with the emu ,car does actually feel and sound a lot better than what it did with the map ecu 2 fitted.
