Chris Wilson
You should be able to buy a used two post ramp for under 500 quid, a bit more if it's single phase. A 2 post ramp is a lot more practical for actually working on the car than a 4 post ramp.
Konrad
I also do advice 2 post ramp Andrew, better access to everything
Wez
Just had a measure in the garage and I am going to a bit pushed to fit even a two poster Width at widest point : 3140mm Height at widest point : 2130mm Overall Height : 2280 Normal width : 2790 There is enough space above and around the car but I dont think they do any ramps that compact, unless there are some single post units available. Chris Wilson
This is the exact same ramp I use here at home: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TECALEMIT-2-POST-CAR-LIFT-HOIST-RAMP_W0QQitemZ150391336375QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment?hash=item230405adb7 It WILL run off a phase convertor, as he says, but you really need a 10 HP one, and they demand a 30 amp supply. I have a 100 amp single phase feed as I use a fairly hefty single phase TIG. All this stuff adds up.... I have the spec sheet for this ramp somewhere with all dimensions. It'll lift a Rolls Royce OK. mobsta_01
Can you fellas help me on this one please? I have seen this 4-Post Ramp for sale (sub-2k incl VAT) and I think it would be a very useful bit of kit. I intend to put it in my garage but isn’t there some rule on the thickness of the concrete base required to mount such a lift etc? the add says they can deliver and install it for you, so i think it'd be best if you tell them what sort of garage you have before you decide to buy
Wez
I found a compact two poster that would fit in my garage http://www.dannmar.com/dannmar-products/two-post-lifts/maxjax.html Bit pricey though
SupraAyf
the add says they can deliver and install it for you, so i think it'd be best if you tell them what sort of garage you have before you decide to buy Do you mean size of garage etc? If so then even the bigger lifts will easily fit in mine. If there is something else that I need to ask then please clarify - cheers;)
Rob
You should definitely get one. You're quite local I believe. I've always liked you, I think you're one of the best members on here, no really. Say, have you been working out?

pete_TT
Im thinking about getting a 2 poster for my workshop. Any recomendations for makes to look out for at a sensible price? (I have 3 phase)
SupraAyf
Just a quick question since Pete has mentioned 2-post ramps but can the driver get in and out of a Supra easily with a 2-poster. There's no problem with a 4-poster, clearly, but the posts are where the doors are on a 2-post set-up?
edge
Dont bother wasting money on cheap branded stuff, and i have also heard that sealy? are using cheap imported units too. Go for something like a Stenhoj as the cheap ramps do fail. My friend in devon has heard of 3 ramps going wrong with people underneath in the last 6 months and ive seen it happen in front of me too. Ibrar Jabbar
I would go with a 2 post lift so much easier to work around. Have a look at the dannmar portable range http://www.dannmar.com
