pistonbroke
I have pre facelift rear light clusters, and want to get a proper red LED type bulb for my fog light (reverse light conversion). At the moment, my fog light is pink and will not pass an MOT which is due next month. I just want to know the bulb type or number so I can order the right one. Cheers. SupraShaun
I cant remember the bulb type, but make sure you check the diameter of the bulb. I bought an led bulb for my fog a while back and it was to big to fit in the cluster, so i just have a slightly pink silvertec bulb at the moment (which it passed the MOT with). SteveC
I think you're looking for a 382 type fitment. There's a site here where you can check bulb types. I tried red LED bulbs (I recall there were 36 individual LED's in each bulb) in the tail/brake lights and fog lights, and I wasn't too impressed. The light output was pretty poor and I doubt they would've passed the MOT. The standard tungsten bulbs were far far brighter, so I put those back in - but I guess LED bulbs could well vary from brand to brand. pistonbroke
Right, well I've bought one of these for the fog light bulb. The width and length of the LED 'cluster is smaller than the original bulb, so it shouldn't have any fitment issues. With that amount of LED's it should also be bright enough. http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/u38220r-ultra-high-power-single-wide-angle-p-1326.html http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/images/u38220r.jpg I then decided to buy 6 of these for my 4 front side lights to match my HIDS, and two number plate lights http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/ultra-wide-501t10194-ultra-xenon-white-p-1779.html http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/images/u5016hw.jpg I then decided I wasn't quite finished and bought two of these for the interior light http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/uba91w-white-bulb-p-562.html to get rid of the yellow glow and make a nice crisp white light http://www.ultraleds.co.uk/images/ba9white.jpg Thats it for now.
