Porsche 968?

I'm toying with the idea of buying a Porsche 968 now my Supra is sold. I know that I definately want a 6 speed, and it has to be a coupe. I've been advised the Sport is the best as a road car, and the Club sport will hold its value the most although they're a bit spartan.

Has anyone any experience with these? Apparently the handling is as good as a RWD road car gets, which sounds quite appealing

In general road driving performance, I think it will be quite a step down from what you are used to with the Supra. I have seen quite a few of them on the Nürburgring though. These are always club sports as I think you can get them down to a very attractive curb weight.

EVO magazine did a buyers guide some time ago, to my recollection. Maybe you can get a back issue.

I have had a 968CS and a 944 Turbo. Build qulaity isn't great, they are technically old fashioned, but handle very well for an old school RWD coupe. The 968 engine needs regular engine chain overhauls and sometimes camshafts themselves, not the most reliable of engines. The transaxle is pretty bullet proof though. If you intend track days get a CS if you want something that's fun straight out of the box, but most of them are pretty knackered by now. A 968 will feel pretty slow, but incredibly nimble compared to a TT. A well modded 944 Turbo is a better option as a road car IMO, a more reliable engine, still got an excellent transaxle, albeit 5 instead of 6 speed (big deal, they have oodles of torque), and they can be modded to give a LOT of power. There are a FEW really good turbo charged 968 engines around, and a lot of bad ones. In N/A form they need revving like mad to get anywhere. Some ex race cars are in mint condition, but not really road usable.

I have had 944's and 911's both are fun but speed comes from adgility and not outright power, a change that takes some getting used to after owning a TT

I was tempted with this 944, it has some of the Track work done already and is cheap enough to have as a toy, bottom of the page ;)

Any other recommendations? Looking for a quick manual RWD coupe for under £10k, must be fun, reliable, have ok MPG (30mpg average approx) and be fairly quick, Not fussed about insurance costs.

I wouldn't really be interested in an NA Supra as the MPG isn't much better than a TT in traffic. I would consider a TTC manual TT or even a single if it came in for the budget.

S15 silvia, 350z, R34GTT,

The Silvia's definately up there, but not sure about the others. Skylines are notoriously expensive for parts, and the 350z doesn't feel very well put together. Plus i'm not really a fan of the VQ engine, they seem to differ in reliability and oil consumption.
