Mike
OK, so lazy weekend.. me and a mate just watched a bunch of films.. I thought I'd recommend, or save you some time Le Donk & Scor-Zay-Zee - Shane Meadows latest offering. Fictional documentary of Le Donk (played by Meadows favourite, Paddy Considine) and his attempt to give young rapper 'Scor-Zay-Zee' his big break. This was excellent. Mostly a character study of Considines character and lots of awkward moments as it transpires he is actually a fairly nasty piece of work. Scor-Zay-Zee is excellent and provides some amazing moments in the film. B The Unborn - This was largely nonsense. A young lady (Odette Yustman) gets haunted by small child, finds out she's a twin and that he died in labour. Now twin brother 'wants to be born'. Gary Oldman comes in half way through and 'nearly' saves it. Borrows a lot from The Exorsist, but sadly not enough. D+ Drag Me To Hell - This was an absolute cracker. Sam Rami returns to horror after those terrible Spiderman films. This time the heroine gets cursed by a gypsy, and is then plagued by a demon trying to take her off to hell. The plot makes many twists and turns and never really lets you relax. It's relentless. Lots of horror, gore, bits to make you jump, and never really takes itself too seriously. I would hugely recommend this one. B+ Mum & Dad - British horror film loosely based on (I think) the events of Fred West. This was possibly one of the worst films I have ever seen. It made no sense, had no context, no character development, and basically involved a young Polish woman being hoodwinked into staying with a work colleague after missing her bus. What follows is straight torture porn with none of the inventiveness of Saw. Total crap. Avoid. E Twilight - The first of the teen vampire series. This was too slow to come last. Young girl moves to new school, falls in love with 'strange' bloke, who turns out to be a vampire. This film is over two hours long and you could probably summaries any events of note is around five minutes. There is nothing really wrong with this film, apart from the length of it - and that it's a tale that's been done many times before, and better. C- Adulthood - South London 'gangsta' outing. Part two to 'Kidulthood' (which I've not seen). Main character is released from jail after killing someone at the end of the first film. Lots of people want to kill him and as they try to track him down, he tries to find out who they are. Lots of words like 'cuz', 'brov' and phases like 'init' used extensively. Not bad, watchable and predictably Danny Dyer pops up for a couple of cameos. The bloke would get in where a draft wouldn't. C-
TTRickeh
Drag me to hell and Twilight are two of the worst films i've seen in quite a while.
Mike
Drag Me To Hell is probably a little 'marmite'.. and probably depends on the strength of your suspension of disbelief. Twilight was nothingness and indifference for two hours. Inoffensive and not recommendable, but hard to get angry about.
Geo
Just watched 'GAMER' what a pile of Monkey Crap.

Twilight was nothingness and indifference for two hours. Inoffensive and not recommendable, but hard to get angry about. The only reason I am slightly angry about Twilight is because I was actually quite looking forward to it. Drag me to hell seemed to mix comedy and horror which should be mutually exclusive genres in my opinon! Is a goat not possesed at one point? i dont watch many films but did watch Taken a few weeks back. easily one of the best films i have ever seen Agreed, Taken was ace! I don't usually bother too much with films but Sky Player on the xbox is definitely earning some kudos with me atm since I don't have sky in my bedroom

Charlotte
Twilight will never be as good as the books (which were written years ago), same as Harry Potter. Drag me to hell is a comedy! I didn't think there was anything scary about it. Except the old woman's teeth/gums/spit in the car park. My friend however was very objectionable to the girl being cursed when she was 'only doing her job'.

Charlotte
The talking goat was my favourite bit! It was hilarious. I really liked the wake of the old woman too. We watched My Bloody Valentine last night. Hmmm. I wish they'd stop doing that thing where the goody turns out to be the baddy like in shrooms. Mike
It was hilarious. I really liked the wake of the old woman too. That bit when the old woman fell out of the coffin.. I was literally crying with laughter! We watched My Bloody Valentine last night. Hmmm. I wish they'd stop doing that thing where the goody turns out to be the baddy like in shrooms. I thought MBV was 'alright' as a 3D showcase.. but I would imagine shocking as a normal DVD. Shrooms was just a complete dud. I was amazed that the BBC actually mentioned their involvement in 'Mum & Dad'... I was literally 'angry' by the end of it. What a waste of time, money, British film making reputation.. I felt ashamed! You must check out La Donk... you'll love it.. I watched half of it through my fingers it was so awkward

I watched half of it through my fingers it was so awkward We didn't have the 3D glasses at home. there were loads of bits where it was obvious they would have looked ace in 3D and I love the cut and slide scene. I think it's more the connection with Fred and Rose. There were bits that I didn't know about until I watched that and was told ie them watching porno at breakfast - Fred and Rose did that kind of thing. I went and looked at what Mark Kermode said about it as soon as I'd watched it http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/markkermode/2008/07/off_camera_bundy_family_values.html OT:- What was that docu/film about that guy that tried to argue with Harvey Weinstein? I tried to remember the other day...
