add heywood
Having a llok around for cams, and found some Brian Crower Stage 3 272's. Doing a bit of research and it says on their website I need titainium retainers and springs to use. I thought these were only needed if running high than stock rpm's. Any advice? I can probably get HKS 272's for a little bit more money if need be.
Kirk
from the way i understand it you have to have titainium specific springs and retainers, uprated steel 1s are fine from what i understand?? could be wrong

bignum
To get the most out of 272`s and a t88 you would need to rev higher, much higher.
add heywood
so whats needed to safely raise the rev limit? Is it a built engine or just head work?

Ryan.G
I Still reckon Ad just to get a smaller Borg warner turbo like the s300 91/79 and not bother with cams. The turbos are not expensive and alot easier to fit than cams. Speak to Paul whiffin or AET turbos about supplying the turbo.

T88's aint as bad as people make out but unless you are running big boost/revs on a built engine they are a waste of time imo, i bet you would love the low down grunt of a smaller turbo, the car would be miles faster. You would have a bit of messing about to get a BW turbo fitted. The down pipe on your turbo is four bolt and the BW is vband so you would have to mod it or buy a new one. You might have to space the turbo up with a 10mm spacer (i had to do this when changing from a T88 to a GT4088) but its not a big deal. You will most likely have to mod the IC pipework a little but again easy enough. Jamie:)
add heywood
I would want a turbo that can give about 650 bhp though. Am quite interested in a few years of getting a built engine done and going for higher bhp so thats why Im sort of hesitant of getting rid of the T88. I know it's a bit wasted with my current set up..... Ill have to look into different turbo's I think.
JamieP
Its not all about bhp, a fast spooling 550bhp will be a faster street car over a laggy 650bhp imo, the turbo Ryan mentions will most likely make 650bhp
tooquicktostop
I have had a very big BHP T88 JUN built R32 and the change to a smaller faster spooling turbo transformed the car, a bit less power top end but boy it was a much easier car to drive fast, and it made all the power much much earlier I had the same with Supras also, going from a T78 to a T04R the T67, the streetability of a smaller fast spooling turbo is such an advantage and makes for an everyday car A true 550 BHP is a very fast road car
add heywood
I know what you guys are saying... I need to get over my ego of wanting a really big bhp figure lol
