rhrw
Hello Everyone, I have been a member of the lexus soarer owners club for a while. These forums are GOLD DUST for finding out about these cars, parts etc etc. Anyway.... I sold my soarer, had great fun in it, and now im getting a supra TT.....(weekend use only, soarer was killing me in fuel using it every day, so i bought a ford focus for 800 quid to drive to work) ! But whats all this about ? My insurer is Admiral, im 23 with 5 years NCB Soarer - £1100 per year, fully comp, 12,000 miles (business use). Supra TT UK model - £750 per year (4000 miles, no commuting or business use) Supra TT JAP model - £1950 per year (4000 miles, no commuting or business use) Thats madness ! how can they charge that much more because one car was registered in japan and one was registered in UK ??? I found a simular story with other insurers ?

Guigsy
iirc the difference between NA and TT isnt usualy as much as people imagine. And this seems similar for a uk car aswell. as far as im concerned. i went from NA to uk TT and the price stayed more or less the same. scotty71
I did a quote last year on a NA auto / manual and it came out at 525 I have just looked at a TT quote on a 93-97 and it came back at 540 Im 38 with full no claims , no endorsments, parked in a garage in a decent postcode. Looks like when I find a Supra in the next few weeks the insurance will be pretty sweet. Then again I only paid 350 Fully on my Cosworth but hence not an Import. TTRickeh
My insurer is Admiral, im 23 with 5 years NCB Supra TT JAP model - £1950 per year (4000 miles, no commuting or business use) I'm the exact same except mine costs £650 (actually I was 22 when I took it out). You didn't put your profession down as stuntman by accident did you?
Dave17
I'm the exact same except mine costs £650 (actually I was 22 when I took it out). You didn't put your profession down as stuntman by accident did you? Yeah that! I'm the same and it costs me nowhere near that amount, and my profession inflates it substantially. ShamelessTT
I insure my Supra with Admiral (all be it multicar , so there is some discount applied, i have 3 cars) 28 , 6 ncb, 5000k miles per year, it comes out @ under £488 all mods declared. (protected ncb + injury cover) Mines also an import, so theres something up there!! (and they know its an import!) caseys
Welcome! Glad you're doing the research and using the search button before asking the 101 obvious questions that could be answered if only a little time was spent reading. A-Plan have a specific branch which is good for Japanese motors, give the Thatcham branch a call. Maybe your soarer was cheaper due to it's obscurity relative to other cars. But as you say ring around and you should hopefully get a better quote. Michael above is selling a very nice and tidy UK spec by the way..
