Hey. I have recently got a N/A auto supra import. Drives pretty nice but recently when i pull off, it sometimes doesnt know what gear it wants. It will jerk up and down a few times then get into gear. On some occasions it takes a while for it to get into the gear it should be in..

Also on my dash it sometimes flashes on and off o/d off even when its on. The two problems dont seem to be connected but i thought i would mention it.

Its not the first auto i have had. I usually drive it with 0/d on, manu off and in "D" position.

Any ideas will be great.

I done the error code check and got code 42 from my overdrive light for some reason instead of the engine light...

so that sais number 1 speed sensor? Could that be causing my problems? where can i find the number 1 speed sensor, front left?

I also just checked my autobox fluid while the engine is cold and not run for about 15 hours. The fluid level is much higher than the marks for "hot" on the dipstick. I understand that the level should be on the "cold" marks at the bottom of the dipstick not at the top.

thanks

This is classic symptoms of a speed sensor problem (the code 42 being, of course, a real giveaway), and the speed sensor problem is usually caused by either dry solder joints on the back of the speedo, or dodgy wiring/components around a speedo convertor/delimiter.

something else i have noticed is when the problem occurs, i can hear a hydrolic clicking noise. usually when i have the car in gear and the brake on i also hear the noise plus the engine doesnt tick over as smooth as it does when in neutral.

I have so far had the time to reset the ecu.

Since i have done that i havent had the problem but i did get a nice noise for a few miles which sounded like a loose fanbelt but i realised it was coming from the gearbox.

:yeahthat: DO you ever get the "check engine" lamp come on as well? Either with or without the flashing OD light?

I solved mine by fitting a replacement odometer ciruit board, but as mentioned if you have a dodgy speedo converter / delimiter fitted that can cause the same issues.

that light doesnt come on. It does work though. I dont think i have a speedo converter / delimiter fitted. It clocks up in km and doesnt go above 112 i dont think. I think the dial facia was just changed.

After a few days of reseting the ecu the problem returned. Im not sure wat to check/change next.

I think i have finally sorted it!

I checked the odometer circuit board and found some cracked solder around a little module. I done the bypass odometer trick and its worked a treat!

Car feels much nippier on pull off now also :)

Thanks everyone for your input and ideas !!
