Spike3.0
My brake pads are in need of changing, but before I go and pay out for them. Is there any upgrades I should be considering? I've seen some people stick with the standard J-Spec set up and some upgrade theirs with Uk spec or even Brembos off other cars. What should I do? The cars only an N/A so I don't need to go crazy but from the 5k miles I've travelled so far the brakes don't seem to good. And it might be well worth a upgrade. pedrosixfour
What is your budget? Brakes are one of the best upgrades you can make, regardless of the power output of the car.
Spike3.0
Budgets not ££££s but if its worth the money Il pay what it needs. I've seen loads of brembo calipers on Ebay from other cars, even Astons. But didn't want a massive headache getting them fitted.
Abz
Budget would determine your choice, in this order: (Low > High) 1. Change to better pads (Keep OEM discs) - Change brake fluid (Motul 5.1). 2. Same as above but also change the brake lines (maybe stainless steel) - New OEM discs. 3. Change to UK Spec brakes (4 pot front \ 2 pot rear). 4. Get some 6 Pot Calipers (Not really needed for the NA). I just had mine serviced at Garage Whiftblitz & they changed my brake fluid, this alone was a bit enough difference!
Thorin
Upgrade to the larger "UK Spec" brakes.
pedrosixfour
Quickest, easiest and cheapest is a supra turbo 4 piston brake upgrade with OEM disks and good pads. Toyota 4 pots are among some of the best on the market and only an upgrade into Brembo or AP racing will provide much more in the line of stopping power but then your are into mega bucks if its an off-the-shelf kit or mega headaches if you want to custom fit a set-up from a different car. I upgraded to turbo brakes and hawker pads in a single afternoon on my track car, I'm delighted with them. Braided hoses and quality brake fluid complete the upgrade.
