edd_t
My dad has been told by someone, that if he goes up on the roof, and points his analogue aerial from horizontal to a vertical position, that this is all thats needed to make it digital! They are wrong arnt they? I have a horrible feeling mum will be calling me at the weekend saying dads fallen off the roof or something. Mike
That's all I have to add I'm afraid... it's sounds like a bunch of hokey old wives tale to me.
RedM
It's true. Also, if you wrap a PS2 in bacon you can play any game from any console past, present and future on it. Even cartridge games. Fact.

RedM
What about facon(smart bacon)? (I think that's what is called isn't?) There is Smart Bacon and Fakin' Bacon. As far as I know they can only be used to create portable worm-holes.
AlexM
I believe it is true for certain analogue FM aerials (obviously for getting DAB rather than Digital TV), but nonsense for TV aerials.

michael
Nah! I do like Veganaise though and the Garlic Mayo from Plamil. You like it because it's better than the alternatives or you like it because it's all there is? Or maybe it's a cry for help?
ivan
Has your Dad already tried using a freeview box? If not, buy a cheapie or borrow one and see if he gets a signal. Whether or not an aerial can pick up digital OK is down to the quality of the aerial more than anything else. If you get a strong analogue signal chances are digital will be OK too. I've got 2 bog standard old aerials, one on the roof and one hanging from the rafters in the attic, and both receive perfect digital signals. Oh, they're horizontally aligned too as I pick up from the IoW transmitter.

ivan
errr.... get with the programme Ken.. we've moved on to Baconnaise now... Damn, now you're just making me hungry! lol, yes dad has a inbuilt freeview box which works fine. but hes worried about the whole going to digital get rid of your old aerials bla bla bla in the next few years. i've gotta stop him going up that ladder! If he can already receive digital through his freeview box then WTF is he worrying about? All they do when switching is turn the analogue off. As he's already watching digital freeview then it won't make any ruddy difference to him whatsoever! All that "get new aerials" bla bla bla is just aerial installation companies trying to get money for selling unnecessary hardware to gullible and worried punters (like your Dad). Rob
I bought a hoooge loft aerial from Maplins, as we live just inside a "shadow" but the little oik in the store told me to "point it South, all TV comes from the South" Odd boy.
