Removing aircon box from behind dash.

Is this possible or is the aircon box behind the dash the same unit as the heaters.

The pipes that go through bulk head seem to connect to a box behind the lower/upper glovebox. Can this box be removed and retain the heaters also can it be done without removing the whole dash.

Thanks

John

from what I can recall, you need to get to bolts at the top of the aircon/heater unit which wont be accessable without the dash out.

I think you can remove the aircon element from the front of the unit but you'd have to remove the glove boxes... and all the pipework looked like it was integrated into the one unit.

I may be corrected but that what I remember, as my dash was already out when I removed mine.

you can remove it here is total procedure first you drain and remove the radiator to get at the air con and also remove power steering air con belt remove the compressor and mounting block. You will need a new short belt. Replace the belt and radiator. Follow the air con pipes back towards the bulkhead and remove the clip and then under the passenger side of the dash remove glove box and unclip outlet from the heater blower undo plug from thermostat on heat exchanger. remove the heat exchanger and refit it....you have done the job..
