b_have
Whats the best deal for Sky HD at the mo? I pay for Sky+ with a basic package, we don't watch a lot of tv, but have an HD ready tv which seems a waste. Saw this in ebay, is it a scam? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250531812871
Tricky-Ricky
There is actually a deal with HD at the moment with free box and install, if refereed by an existing customer, however i expect being a customer already, you will get a Shiite deal. I would be a little dubious of that ebay deal, i suspect it hinges on what i have already outlined.
michael
Free HD box if you subscribe to HD movies seems to be the only official offer - new and existing customers can get this. The guy on eBay gets M&S vouchers each time someone signs up and you need to take out the HD pack deal with SKY at £10 a month plus your normal subscription AFAIK. Free box and free install for new customers, is what the vouchers said that i got through my door, a couple of days ago, but obviously you need to sign up to the HD package. peter richards
no such thing as a free HD box , had a leaflet through a few weeks ago ,might be just a wales thing , saying all i had to do was phone and quote the number on the card . you could tell the girl had had enough from the tone of her voice lol like M said you have to subscribe to a new package £10 a month on top of what you already pay , plus installation was £30 i think on top .so not free , plus the boxes are supposed to be crap . ive been thinking of going back to cable , reception here isnt very good with sky , plus dont bother phoning up to get any CS it dont exist
Tricky-Ricky
I obviously didn't read the small print, but the invite i got definitely stated that i Could refer three people and they would get a HD box and installation for free, on signing up for the HD channels. But as i said its an offer for non Sky customers.
b_have
Unfortunately can't get cable here (in the sticks). Also, my only feeds are from the sky dish, does that mean I can't view any offerings from BBC/ITV in HD unless I have an HD box?

Although JustGav could point out options with the HTPC MediaPortal set up. I think he streams HD through his computer set up around the house. Blagging works very well with Sky "I've been a customer for blah . Why am I being being charged more?" etc. " I think I'll just go freesat and cancel the subscription." You get the idea. This has worked very well for the kids. Free boxes, lower rates etc.
