Chiefgroover
On a dynapack, Sat afternoon..... T04Z, BVH, Tanabe touring quiet exhaust (you know those real restrictive ones ahemm) Two parallel 3" cats, and a stock airbox with blitz LM panel filter.......so what did it make @ 1.45bar ? 665BHP @ the fly. Not bad for something thats very quiet around town. Will dyno shortly with no cats but stock air box @ 1.6bar or more. Have pic of dyno screen will post at later date when i get it e mailed to me. Kirk
superb result im guessing the twin cats are custom high flows??
Chiefgroover
256/264 HKS & type R intercooler, AEM etc. Cats, which are slightly damaged (crushed) from hitting a speed ramp are Random technology 3" race cats. You can see them in the custom fabrication thread i did a few weeks ago. Standing behind the car on the dyno I got to realise just how much they flow lol. Chingy
great BHP figure what torque did it make
Chiefgroover
Here you go. I suppose it dispells some of the "massive restriction" idea's so commonly used in car talk vocabulary. Yes, it will make more without the cats and a different intake but the noise and social aspect vs a small decrease in performance and the ability to live with it easy will appeal to an increasing number of people I think?. Chiefgroover
On an earlier run with lower boost, IIRC it did 633BHP and 621lbs/ft torque. It feels very lively lol, AFR was high 11's. NO 10.8 stuff here lol. One of the drawbacks of the cats is full boost was achieved around 700rpm later.
jevansio
What's the EGT's like Ernie, mine are terrible there's no way I could run CATs
Chiefgroover
Put it this way, the knock sensors now read half the voltage I had before, I dont have black smoke out the exhaust even on the hardest pull, it runs smooth as silk, but the biggest improvement is the fuel economy, a massive difference in the fuel i am getting through so much easier. Dont know the EGT's but I'll ask and get back to you. I think you'll be more interested in my next run without cats. Might get it done this week. I'll get a good pic of the screen as its not printing right now. Edited November 16, 2009 by Chiefgroover (see edit history)
dude
From your print out it looks like the car has been dynoed in 3rd!!!! Any reason for that?? Personally I would have thought the EGT's would be high at an AFR of hi 11's, the AFR under boost makes very little difference to power but a lot of difference to safety, saying all that Dimitri's mapping is well known so its prob just a diff slant, he is the 'mad scientist' after all!!!! Just don't want peeps running out and altering their ECU's without his know how.
Ryan.G
With any Dynapack i have to use, i always give the Hub figure as the Flywheel figure mainly because Dynapack say too! Dynapack hub figures always come within 5% of a Dynodynamics then. Either way it still good Have you had it noise tested and emission tested yet?
