SupraStar 3000
I know the words alone are enough to be hung, drawn and quartered by the Supra purist's, but are 20" wheels really akin to sleeping with your sister? Can someone here please talk me out of it with some cold hard facts and figures. Found some awesome looking spit rims but only available in 20" and trying to formulate and unbiased opinion. Should I rule them out.

Scooter
People who fit them generally want to lower their car too to complete 'the look'. The lack of tyre sidewall and lowering will adversely effect the ride comfort. The suspension geometry will be all wrong as CW always points out and you won't be able to adjust it enough to compensate and so performance at the higher end of the envelope will be compromised. The 'limit' will be more sudden, 16's and high profile tyres = gradual letting go, 20's and tiny profiles = a potentially uncatchable (certainly harder) rear end. Braking performance could be worse if the springs/dampers can't deal with the extra forces/work needed to keep the tyre in contact with the road. Saying all this, if you can afford to fit top quality rubber and are happy to accept that they will need replacing more often (inner wear probable) then I personally do not see you flying off into a hedge at the first corner. SupraStar 3000
Cheers Scooter. A very informative and helpful post I totally understand about the compensation and wheel alignment bit. I can just imagine a 20" wheel struggling to get the rubber down. Thanks for reminding me.

With the correct tyre profile and width you can get a smooth enough ride with out any major mods! Arch rolling is a defo tho with wider rears! Dont hesitate just get the buggers! Animal
Ed's expressed an interest in 20" rims and not one Goatse picture has appeared - this thread is depressingly on-topic, lol.
SupraStar 3000
Can we see the wheels Ed? Interested to see what's got you drooling in the rim department Matt, my arse wouldn't take the bumpy ride with wood so I was thinking about going with these in 20", but have decided to stick with 18" now. http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/7477/20080512643cp3.jpg http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/20080512643cp3.jpg/1/w800.png

To be honest, I'm slight depressed too mate. This thread is just a fabricated lie to entice some arse candy imagery. I don't even own a Supra. I'm only here because I can't figure out how to log-out. It's more of a plus for beginners, or for those that just want to get it opened, deposit their goods inside, and get out with little messing around
