scooby_doo_do
Having a mare trying to Tax the GT4... Basically the chap who i purchased the car from (a freind of mine) has lost the V5 as the car's been in the garage for so long. Although the car is currently sorn he has binned the tax renewal form so i can't even use that online. I've been to the post office with MOT and Insurance but they need the V5. I've been the to DVLA, but they have said i need to fill out a V62 form and they will then write to the owner to confirm. Looks like i can't drive the car for a month until i get the details... :-(
nevins
I had that problem when I bought mine but all i did was go see a mate at a car sales and lent their letter that allows them to tax any vehicle.
SupraDan24
Have you tried doing it by phone. I cant remember exactly my circumstances when i did it, but i was missing something which meant i couldn't do it online or at the post office. I rang them up and did it in like 2 mins. It was so long ago i cant remember which bit i was missing.
JustGav
I feel for you... I'm in the exact same situation. My little van is off the road because of exactly the same situation, they wouldn't even let me go to a local DVLA office. So sent off the V62 and now just waiting. creativename
the quickest way to do this, is to get the owner to apply for a new log book. If he does it, it should come in 48 hours, then he can give you the green slip and tax it on that. Only down side is it will cost about £28 for the log book. I am pretty sure it takes longer than that 3 - 5 working days. An I thought a replacement was £19 which it was when I last sent a V62 form. The quickest way is to get a trader to do it. creativename
like anything it SHOULD take 48 hours but in reality who knows. I thought it was £28 but iv got an admin dept that deals with this kind of thing
absz
you should be able tax the car at your dvla office submitting a v62 form. i have done this many times when buying cars from auctions with no v5 log book.
