jackso11
Got my decats to put on, second hand so no gaskets. Lots of different threads with opinions on types of gaskets but not how many I will need, or if using gasket paper, what thickness. So, manifold -- gasket -- 1st Decat -- gasket -- restrictor ring -- gasket -- 2nd Decat -- gasket -- back box. Is that right? if so, what thickness, or should I just used gasket paste? jackso11
Also, how come the shape of second decats seems to vary so much? Like these, both jspec second decats but look so different? Also, if someone could supply me with the gaskets needed give me a shout Edited November 13, 2009 by jackso11 (see edit history)
supspower
Alot of people seem to just use paste and all seems fine, if not can always measure the length from hole to hole on the flange and see if any of these will be of use, i used some on my previous supra and all was fine...thickness wise 3mm i think would be enough. http://www.blitz-uk.co.uk/Product-14.aspx

merckx
or should I just used gasket paste? That's all I ever use, make sure you use sufficient.
jackso11
gasket paste, is it all the same? I have some black gasket silicone I got for a sump on a mazda and I also have some copper coloured silicone gasket I got for a small odd job. Not sure where the black stuff is. Is it all the same or does it come in temp grades?
merckx
gasket paste, is it all the same? It's called exhaust assembly paste, an off white paste. Don't confuse it with repair paste/putty. Expensive at Halfords. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_164909_langId_-1_categoryId_165625 Your local car shop should have some cheaper. jackso11
£3.79 isn't really that expensive is it?!
merckx
£3.79 isn't really that expensive is it?! Not really but the local car shop sell it for about half that price, depends on how far you have to travel.
