With a compact bar design with a accent, vibrant 1.52" 65K CSTN LCD screen, call manager and call time limit and security features such as SOS messaging and mobile tracker. The bar design features premium metal details. A small, light phone for those that like to keep things simple. It's very easy to use and ideal if you just want a mobile for calls and text messaging. It has a speaker if you need to go hands free, polyphonic ringtones so you can give your ring an individual sound and an alarm for reminders and wake up calls. Christmas present? Emergency phone? Prank caller? Phone collector? Cheaper than a travel alarm? Apparently T-Mobile are doing a similar deal if you are a customer, if you aren't you have to buy £10 credit to get one for £10. I know a lot of people think young children need phones these days, get a few of these and it won't matter when they lose them or swap them for stickers. martini
Can a payg phone work with a monthly SIM? Usually provided they are both on the same network.
stevie_b
Subscribed. Thanks Michael. Does anyone on here who is more phone-savvy than me (not hard to achieve!) have one of these? My Nokia 6230i is starting to give up (poor battery life, annoying echo during calls).
Chris Wilson
Following up Branners question, and sorry if this is a daft question already answered, but mobiles are a mystery to me. Are you saying I can buy one of these and take the SIM card from my Nokia monthly tariff phone and put it in the £10 quid one and it'll work? And vice versa? This quasi exotic thing I got is a total PITA and only rings when it feels like it. Should have followed my instincts and stayed with something very basic... It depends what network you are currently on, and if that phone above is locked to Orange. If you are on Orange, no problem. If you aren't the phone might need unlocking. supra_aero
Be wary of these cheap £5 phones. I got one - yes its great as a standby. But the features are bordering terrible. Yes it makes phone calls (fairly good quality I admit). Battery life is also good due to lack of features. However, texting is really difficult - don't assume "I have a sony ericsson so surely texting will be the same on the £5 version as it is not!". They seemingly have deliberately put in a terrible predictive text into the mix. Also sometimes they are known to remove the option of turning off voicemail, forcing you to call up to check them. They are good value for £5 but don't at all expect it to even be as good as an old 3210, not alone a 6310. At least from my and close friend's experience. I use mine for business for receiving calls only and it does that adequately.
Axle
They seemingly have deliberately put in a terrible predictive text into the mix. And for those who find predictive text terrible? Good find. I've ordered a couple (they are worth it just to act as missiles for those who don't indicate). Thanks Michelangelo.
