The-Plethora
Shamelessly inspired by the Wii for Christmas thread, what are the worst presents you ever got? Were you convinced you were going to get something beyond all realms of awesomeness only for mass dissapointment to wash over you and the fake thankyous of appreciation doled out to those concerned:d I think my brother had it bad one year... What he wanted... What he got... Cheers Mum he will love using that in December, there were almost tears that year. He even saved the big one till last because he was sure that it was his spectrum and wanted to make a big fanfaire about it. The one that springs to mind instantly for myself would surely be this one... What I wanted... http://digitalbattle.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/04/snes.jpg What I got http://www.melodyprojects.com/eek.jpg My dad followed with "Thats better than a Nintendo isn't it?" ... ... "Yes.." I whimpered I count myself very lucky though as they have bought me some amazing stuff when I was younger, now I am 29 I like to get them cool stuff back. Best year was when we had been burgled (I was probably12 or something) and they said "we can only afford one small bag of presents this year" I was a little crushed but understood, on Chrimbo morn they pulled this out after we unwrapped the other presents, I almost wet myself! Didn't leave my room for about 2 years Theres a guy in work whose parents bought him an oversized cup and saucer when he was younger and his Gran got him a black and white video of the early olympics (WTF?) and what was clearly a second hand calculator. More confusing than anything.
Lbm
When I was about 14, I was hoping for some money from my Uncle, you know £10 something like that - but instead, I got a Lilliput house. Yeah really good - to add to my already massive collection...!?!
hoff
I always wanted the optimus prime transformers toy but never did. Needless to say everything else was a little disapointing. To be fair to my parents I think (read hopes) it just got sold out. I did eventually get his successor, the transporter truck of name I dont recall. RedM
I had some presents that you might call crap. However, it was when my dads business was failing, the house was in negative equity and things were pretty crap all round. No matter how much warning you get you still hope that something might happen, that things will get better and that you'll all have a good time. Life isn't like the movies. However, I still have those presents and treasure them. It's not what you get that's important it's the thought and feelings behind them. That's what really matters. The-Plethora
I can kind of see my parents reasoning for not getting the snes (aged 11 or 12 maybe then), the games were about £45 up to £65 for street fighter 2 and not the sort of thing I could get with my pocket money whereas the spectrum I don't get as that was from the golden age where all you need to copy games was a HI-Fi. You were the dogs danglies if yours had Hi speed dubbing as well (was that what it was called?).
