supra_aero
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8377922.stm Only took google best part of 2 weeks to remove the image. I'd be ashamed if I was a google employee.
Gaz6002
I'd be ashamed if I was a google employee. I doubt that. You'd be getting paid way too much to care about something so trivial.
supra_aero
I doubt that. You'd be getting paid way too much to care about something so trivial. Not really trivial though is it. It basically says the most searched item on the net about the first lady was that racist picture. I'd say that says a ton about the world we live in and I am quite concerned, particularly being from African origin.

I'd be ashamed if I was a google employee. They haven't removed it have they? How can they remove a search result? What's the point in a search if stuff can't be found? Why can't we remove the idiots who take offence to this kind of thing? Photoshop my face onto a snowman I'm sure I won't care.

But if such an image appears at the top of the rank and it will be blantantly be politically incorrect, racist etc. etc., I see no harm in doctoring the results of at least the first page. I'd have thought that'd be common sense. lol, yes but with all due respect you aren't the first lady of the USA are you?

It's a computer-controlled function leading to an unfortunate coincidence.
supra_aero
We'll have to agree to disagree mr gaz. Its interesting how split reacions are on bbc news as well. I'd have thought most would clearly find it disturbing blah blah and agree it should be removed. Whilst v.few argue its not offensive and I agree that its not google's job to police its searching. In an instance like this it must take some action, especially when its brought to their attention. Had it not made world news today (no idea why it took 2 weeks to do so), they'd have left it. Chris Wilson
I think cartoon caricatures have long been par for the course when you are a senior politician, or a member of their family or friends. People get far too precious about this sort of thing. Being a black president's wife has its up as well as its downs.
dr_jekyll
i dont think it would go down well if spitting image had the tetly tea advert from 99 playing the obamas.

Chris Wilson
I'd have laughed, but I am old school and not yet PC sanitised thoroughly. Hell, I'd like them to bring back `Til death us do part", just to hear the kerfuffle from the indignant left who seem to honestly believe the man on the Clapham omnibus has really become so PC as not to laugh at it. Perhaps Clapham isn't so good a choice these days, in hindsight....
Mike
i dont think it would go down well if spitting image had the tetly tea advert from 99 playing the obamas. That makes no sense. Can you take a breath and try again please? Something about Spitting Image?
dr_jekyll
my mistake it was the old pg tips advert. it was just a touch on a previous comment saying poloticians should be exept being made into comidy caricatures. to witch i was trying to say, that if spitting image ( a programe that makes poloticians into comedy items ) was to use the family from the old pg tips adverts for (those who remember it) as a comidy interpiration of the obama family may cause controvercy and offence . my mistaking pg tips with teltly tea may have caused some advers confusion, for this i can only offer my deepest apologies.
