Matt H
Great, this thread has gone from Billy talking about how he can not play on his Xbox because of RROD to he should get a PS3 to Matt talking about his behind (again) to somehow a picture of a big fish catch! God I love this forum makes a very entertaining lunch! Oh BTW I have neither an xbox or PS3 and between my friends who have them and we do have games nights (I do have a projector though!) We had a few nights when the PS3's suffered from over heating & one decided to switch itself off in the middle of a heated race (on 2 different PS3 consoles). On another night we could not get my friends PS3 to connect to another friends 42" Samsung telly! On these bases and after speaking to colleagues who own both consoles, the xbox seems to be the better console Oh look what I found: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=202264 As of Aug 2009, Xbox failure rates were at 54%! caseys
Oh look what I found: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=202264 But to count, I personally know 12 people who have had RRoD with 360s, one bloke had two in a week.. launch week! 4 of them have now flipped to PS3s due to just being plainly hacked off by RRoD Had a PS1, two PS2s and this PS3, this is my very first console failure and none of my mates have had a PS3 go pop yet. Sega, Commodore, Spectrum and Nintendo never let me down, first one for Sony. That and Game are footing the bill to repair it even though it's out of warranty I'd still buy one to play Forza 3 on, but not looking to spend more than £75 odd on a 360. And as Matt said and I think we previously posted up, PS3 failure rate is

Never let me down when I plugged it back in!
Scott
Matt, you have finally defined irony. If you think you led me on you can add another example to your learnings. Lunchtime boredom is a killer. 48k spectrum - failed with a punch 128k spectrum - fine Amiga 600 - Fine Amiga 1200 - Fine Gamegear - Fine Gameboy - Fine (Still got it) PS1 - Fine (Still got it) PC - All fine, to date only 1 HDD failure. PS2 - Fine (Still got it) PSP - Fine DS - Fine Xbox - Fine (Still got it) Wii - Fine PS3 - Both still OK Xbox 360 - Don't have it yet

Abz
54% Failure rate Hold on, most hardcore gamers are on Xbox, that explains it then. Most of my friends use PS3 to watch "Friends" on Blueray

It might have its flaws, but 360 is the way to go for the best gaming experience. Man, i well wanna be home bashing some Xbox now. As far as I can see, they're basically the same, with the PS3 being slighly more powerful (most likely irrelevantly), with some significant reasons why I'd choose a PS3 over the X-box. Could you give me a list of reasons why, if I didn't have a PS3, I should go for an X-Box instead?

Could you give me a list of reasons why, if I didn't have a PS3, I should go for an X-Box instead? I've done this before on a previous thread. I listed a few reasons why "I" prefer Xbox over PS3, Its not the console itself i prefer, its the online gaming of the 360. Of course the PS3 itself is a better machine, that's obvious, but for me Xbox Live is much much better than the PS3 equivalent. Hardly anyone uses Mic's on PS which means you dont get to interact with the opposition or team mates which is half the fun. Also, i find there's more people online on 360 at any given time on the games i like to play. COD for instance. 360 does a good job at separating different continents online as well so its not laggy. Remember, i have both, and for me, 360 is a clear winner for online gaming. If you haven't tried it. buy/borrow/steal one for a week or two and see what you think. you'll be a changed man

I would have thought mics are a bad thing, turn everyone to mute on my PS3. Strange that you should say that the X-Box should have more on-line gamers on at any one time though, last time I played COD world at war there was over 70,000 logged on. How many do you want to play with?! plus, considering the X-Box 360 is by far the worst seller that's odd. I can't really comment about the on-line side of the Xbox, not spent enough time to really notice anything different when I've been on my GF's brothers machine. Certainly wouldn't be a good enough reason for me to change to an Xbox though. Maybe you're more of a serious game player, which is why you can see that the Xbox is better on-line. Perhaps my lack of getting value for money from an Xbox subscription is another major reason for why it's not for me. Then again, you would expect it to be better if you're paying for it. PS3 ftw then, aside from on-line

Like i said, its my opinion, not fact, and seeing as i own both consoles and have used both enough to know the differences, I'm going to trust my own judgment. I don't see how the 360 being the "by far the worst seller" has any relevance....My Supra is the best car I've ever owned, yet there's only another 2 in my area. Plenty of Fords though....maybe i should get one and conform
pistonbroke
By far the worse seller? Where did you read that? As far as I'm aware, the PS3 has only outsold the 360 in Japan. In every other region, the 360 install base is much much bigger.

Well i dont know what orifice that fact was pulled out of, but seeing as the Xbox of today has a different motherboard, drive, improved heat sink to list a few, i'm guessing they HAVE spent a "bit of money" sorting the issue. This is what it always comes back to, every PS3'r immediately brings up the RROD and says the 360 is shit because of it...i dont pretend to know the facts and statistics because...well lets face it, i'm neither interested or sad enough to learn them, but i'm fairly sure the numbers of RROD have dropped significantly since the whole thing began. I notice as well, PS3 Gamers never bring up the YLOD or whatever you call your version, we'll just forget your one shall we, sweep that one under the rug. All hail the PS3...the most expensive Blu-Ray player thats out there :innocent:

Great....more facts that don't interest me. It's simple, if you don't like the 360....then don't buy the 360. Least then we can all be happy Not spouting facts for the hell of it. You made a statement, I nullified the incorrect statement with a solid fact. I just bought an Xbox. I like them, I like the games on them, I like the Live online multiplayer system on them. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are notoriously faulty, from the factory. I'm going to have the best of both worlds. Adding everything up though, I still say the PS3 is the better bit of kit. If you deny that the PS3 is a superior machine then you are, to put it frankly, a "fanboi". Preference of a machine does not mean superiority. SupraDan24
Scott, if your gonna but in then you might aswell actually read my comments before doing so. At no point did i post "facts" i even said i wasnt going to state facts, i said its my opinion. I wrote that the Internals of 360 had changed since release date, and seeing as you've posted "Jasper version" i'm sure you agree they have. And as for "I nullified the incorrect statement with a solid fact"..exactly which fact is this...is it the "my mate Gazza has one and his fried" fact....oh well if his fried then they must ALL be faulty then. Last time i checked, Gazza's xbox doesnt count for the whole Xbox population. If you'd just read my comments rather than just blindly posting a reply out of annoyance then you would have seen that i DID already state that i think the PS3 is the superior machine, and that the only reason i have an Xbox is because i prefer the online play on it.
