Ten Of The Best IV

Alright me lovelies, it’s getting towards that time of the year again…

Redline’s Ten of the Best IV

It's on Sunday 31st July 2005 at Elvington airfield. Be there or be :limp:

Here is the info I have so far:

Car clubs attending:

The 200+ Club, GTR Register, Team Subaru, Mitsubishi Lancer Register, Vipers, GTO UK, 200SXOC, Skyline Owners Club, Hondas UK, UK Supras, GTIR-OC, RS Cosworth, RS Turbo, Performance Rover Group, FDUK, CCC UK, Fiat Coupes, IMOC MR2, Corvettes, GT4 OC

Also:

The Jun Lemon and Top Secret Drag R Skylines will be making an appearance this year. Both cars ran at a recent test day at Elvington, and both turned in 10s quarter mile times. The Top Secret car had not run before in the UK, yet managed an impressive 10.3s 136mph on its one and only full launch…

Improved from TotB III are:

  • The PA system
  • The catering
  • The toilets
  • Grandstand seating/raised terrace viewing
  • The competitor pitlane will be enlarged and changes have been made to improve the flow of cars through the pitlane area.
  • A separate area for fuel storage will be available to prevent fuel drums being stored in pitlane areas.
  • The handling circuit will have an enlarged viewing area for spectators, to bring the action closer, and competitors will all be limited to a maximum of 5 timed runs during the day to ensure fairness to all.

Tickets:

Spectator tickets are now on sale in advance from the TotB website (http://www.totb.co.uk/home/) at a discounted price of just £15 per adult. (£20 on the day, kids under 16 free entry with parent/guardian)

MkIVSupra.net will be sorting out a special bulk ticket offer to members at £12.50 per person in advance.

Competing:

The bonkers Calder boys are going as a tuner entry, other than that we have got 10 places for the club. Club entries are £85 (includes vat), tuner entries are £100+vat. We need to decide the ten runners going. Priority goes to those who have run before and have finished working cars. Next up is people with finished working cars and good times/terminals/power figures. Then it's people who haven't finished their cars yet but are working jolly hard ;)

Do the usual quote and post for the spectator ticket list. If you wish to compete, PM me with your car spec, state of readiness, and other pertinent info

Should be a good year!

As an early heads-up it seems like the space is limited to 10 apart from the CRD boys who got an official invite back due to last year's performance. This may mean that tuners will have to fight for space with independants. I don't want to see more than 4 or 5 spaces taken up by tuners because I firmly believe in this being an event for the ordinary Joe's who have put in their own cash, time, and effort to get a monster car out the door. Rather than a £100,000 tax-deductible trailer queen demo car ;)

Keep the PMs coming and we'll see how it goes :)

As a side issue, I've said that if the tuners come in as part of our 10 slots then they should only pay the £85 punter fee, see how well that goes down :D

Hence why we've only asked for one place, there's 3 we could have entered but its hardly fair on everyone else...

You've got 3 in house tuned up Supra's now? Didn't know Kev's was finished let alone others....

Fair point but don't start inter-trader banter already :p If the tuner cars were seperate to our 10 slots then there could be as many as you liked as far as I was concerned, but that's changed since my original post so probably it's gonna have to be one or possibly two from each. Please do PM me all the cars you'd like to run though so I've got a full picture of what people want :)

I've had clarification of the fees by the way:

"They get listed fully on the site, dvd and results as their tuner name if they pay the £100+vat fee. Obviously for £85 they just get listed by driver name. "

So you pays your money and you takes your choice :)

PS Matt Harwood wasn't one of the Vortex cars, I'll get that up front right away. He's privateering it.

Oh Kev's is finished yeah... just don't think the turbo is gonna be big enough.

There's 2, and my VVTi Supra engined Lexus, that would be a wild card as I don't know if it'll be done in time, I am guessing not with the work load at present.

Like I'd do that ;)

Can't wait now, this year with all the singles out there should be good.

Has Darren put his name forward? PW I think is going bigger again turbo wise... Usmann? Slowdog/Paul? I could go on but it'll take a while!

Not many responses yet Gaz, I'll update the first post when I've got some meaningful info. PW is interested :) Yep, lots of single-turbo'd monsters out there, that's why I'm looking for finished and running ones :D

Well, Chris has said that other clubs are having to fit most of their tuner entries into the ten allocated places, so there we go. If other clubs want to run 8 sponsored cars and only two privateers, that's up to them, but here I think everyone is on the side of a fair balance between tuner cars and punters :)

PM me with names and details

Will do Chis, just couldnt see where a Lexus fitted in. We have an MR2 turbo which runs Supra spark plugs does that qualify ;)

I'd rather just see the top quickest Supras run, no matter if they're tuner, club or whatever. Would be nice to see a list of nominees putting their names up to see what sort of field we're expecting come July.

For once Bobbeh I agree completely. I have said before I will step aside if there is a proven quicker car wanting to run. This is actually a team competition and we score points as a team, hence we need the best cars.
