JustGav
Remote desktop with port 3389 opened on your router? Generally not a good idea though, as it would expose your machine. Have you tried using utorrent's web setup and open that up through the router.

JustGav
Vnc D'oh... forgot about that, and I use it Wrap VNC up with a dynamic dns client, and it would work a treat.
Whitesupraboy2
Bit trickey for end users to setup, port forward etc. Its ok im not an user lol Remote desktop with port 3389 opened on your router? Generally not a good idea though, as it would expose your machine. Have you tried using utorrent's web setup and open that up through the router. I want to keep exposure to a minimum, hence web was my first thought. however I use VNC at work and didnt even think of that...DOH (i presumed we bought it) I'll have a read up if not logmein seems anotehr good choice. cheers Guys
wkdtime
VNC is a another nice one which the chaps above have posted, but again this requires port forwarding if going from WAN to WAN. If this is for personal use such as connecting to your own computer at home then VNC will be the way as you can just go and set up port Forward etc. If this is to support family and friends etc then something like logmein would be the better option as the end user will only need to install the app with no port forwarding or firewall configuration required. Scott
I just use remote desktop. I have it running on a custom port with a fairly decent password though (Admin & Guest disabled)
wkdtime
Its ok im not an user lol Hehe I figured, I was refering to friends and family that you may want to support if that was your intention.

Whitesupraboy2
Hehe I figured, I was refering to friends and family that you may want to support if that was your intention. I have enough of that when I get home, last thing I want to have to do is do it remotely!
Thorin
I edited my original post to recommend RemoteVNC as a specific VNC client. Authenticates via a google mail account and shouldn't even require you to open up any ports on your firewall/router. I've not used it personally but a friend rates it very highly, you can apparently install the server part on lots of separate hosts then when you log in with the viewer it automatically lists all the hosts you can connect to. adnanshah247
logmein is really good. i have it and its great.
MrRalphMan
logmein is good, but some work places block it. I use Putty and Open SHH to create a Tunnel and then use UltraVNC to connect. My router takes care (sometimes) of the dynamic DNS service.
The-Plethora
I used to use tight VNC but just use remote desktop now, you can change the port it listens on by editing the registy. I work away quite a lot and its nice to come back to a bunch of downloads. I mainly use it for web stuff though, this way from work I can use RDC, connect to my home PC and browse the web and apply for jobs, post on this forum, facebook etc and theres no record at work of pages visited, also working in the IT dept helps as well

Thorin
Ultra VNC user here. Have a dynamic dns to connect to dynamic sites. UNVSC is/was great too however its very un vista/7 friendly. PC Helpware is now my support weapon of choice I used to use Ultra VNC for ages... but the ads annoy me too much now and I generally use TightVNC. For ease of use connecting to home PC's etc. I'd give RemoteVNC a go, works in much the same way as LogMeIn from the sounds of it. Seemed to work well on the little test I just did here. Abz
What a bunch of geeks! VNC is the way forward, though I have used LogMeIn which is brilliant and easy s\w for end users.

Ad's in UltraVNC, I have to admit I only use the client and not the web page, but I've not seen any. LogMeIn was good, until the IT department blocked the website.. DOH!.
