jon_dragon
I have the exact same issue with my '95 N/A. Ive baught some new front shocks allready but Im going to check the top mounts and sub frame bolts tomorrow before I fit them - could save myself £150 by taking them back. Unless anybody wants them? Missile
I have the same issue. Changed the front shocks and added Top secret springs and the noise is still there. Totally different top mount's. So for me, definatly not top mounts. Drop links and anti roll bar next to be checked.
Scutch0
I have the same problem, mines had new arb bushes, but haven't checked the subframe bolts yet, what ft lb should the bolts be torqued to?
jon_dragon
I tightened my top mounts and it was still the same. Ive found it makes a bit of a clunk when I put it into first and second gear which would sugest subframe mounts. Does anyone else get this too? Chris Wilson
Engine mounts can knock, I'd suspect those over and above the subframe bolts. Expensive and a pain to do with the engine in a TT.
canojt
I also have this noise problem (both sides). I did loose the nut from the lower bushing where the eccentric is adjusted and the noise went off. But this lasted just a few days. Now I'm looking to change them. What noise are you getting, under what situations and where from? Common causes of knocking noises are lose subframe bolts, lose suspension arm bolts or worn upper mounts. I'd suggest getting the car in the air and torquing all the subframe and suspension bolts up. Also check for wear in the suspensions bushes and joints. THIS LINK details all the torque settings you'll need.
