New BMW M3 GTS

Well that's a different matter because this will be a factory car, but still, good point.

Why anyone would buy this when a 911 GT3 is within reach is completely beyond me.

I think judgement should be reserved though, until we can see what the M3 GTS is like against it's peers.

Should be quite a match, because BMW M don't make crap, and neither to Porsche, period!

Is a 3-series BMW going to be able to cut it against a 911 GT3? Not sure. How about the Nissan GTR spec-V? Doubt it very much, and I'm no fan of the R35.

If there's a race series for the M3 GTS then there might be a market, but seeing as the V8 engine will only last a couple more years, I have to question the credibility of this particular car.

Thats a wind up. There is no way BMW would release a car in that extravagant a colour. Look at their best selling range, they practically invented the drab silver metallic colour. Other than that nasty yellow they do in M-spec BMW do not do garish. I call spoof on this.

Laguna Seca blue?

I think on a track the GTS would probably compare quite well to a stock R35, look at how much weight they managed to lose of the the BM, its dropped under 1500kg and I'm sure old fashioned light weigh, balance and chassis design would be a match for the gtr's 4wd and mucho weight.

It might be ugly as sin (imho) but judging from their past efforts and what they're charging, I'd say BMW will make sure it goes round a track very well, even compared to GT3's and GTR's.
