tooquicktostop
Think after many test drives in several "sports cars" in the last month or so including Ferrari 308, 456, Maserati 3200, E type, Range Rover sport, SL55 AMG I have narrowed it down somewhat, not having a garage at home takes out most of the above as they are "Fragile" I have a love of American muscle and have owned a Camaro, the Vette seems like a logical option, with a £20K budget what should I watch out for, there are several cars in the bracket, both classics which I like and more modern (2003 cars) Would like a Charger/Challenger but they are just not as practical and everyday as a Vette could be Would love a sorted supercharged car after seeing this clip attached below, seems they are all out my price range however, anyone got some buying tips or good garages to view them in the South East wow ! bigbloodyturbo
I always like the C5 more than the C6, ever since the yellow one raced at lemans years ago, a lot sleeker and prettier looking imho. They've still got an LS engine in them and if you want a supercharger eventually then AFAIK your better with the standard corvette instead of the z06 which would bring it into your budget. I agree, the C5 would have a lot of "cheaper" tuning potential in my budget I really wanted the 308 if I am honest, the Carburetor late 70's model is just jaw dropping good looking, the interior is pre the nasty black 80's plastics with polished sliding switches and an exhaust note to die for, however with it being away from home in storage I just now it would get no use

If any of them claims in the advert are true i will eat my own bollox:D that SC kit is not intercooled or chargecooled, stay clear. If was going down that path again id buy a stock one and fit one of the new Magnacharger TVS 2300 kits:cool:

The Ferrari centre in Kent where I tested the 308 has mirrors in the showroon to see how you look sat in it, very embarrassing, but I did look cooler in the car than out ! Soop Dogg
That C6 is stupidly cheap! If you contact the seller, just check it hasn't been repaired after something nasty. Get the VIN and have it carfaxed in the states. (Similar to an HPI) Both my cars (C5 convertible and C6 coupe) have been UK or Euro spec cars, so had the Z51 pack on both. The C5 was a nice drive, and I knew that the C6 would be an improvement, but I didn't appreciate just how much better it would be until I got one. The C6 is just so much more planted and handles B-roads beautifully. Fast changes of direction are just so much fun as you hardly have to think about slowing down. Changing line mid corner for potholes etc and getting back on line just doesn't upset it at all. Economy-wise it's good too. I didn't buy the 'vette for economy, but it's a nice bonus that it can do over 30mpg at around 80 to 85mph on the motorway. I recently did 3000 miles around Europe, up and down mountains etc, generally not hanging about and averaged over 27mpg. Servicing costs me about £120 a throw at a local specialist. The first major service isn't until 100,000 miles. In all, very civilised around town, fun from 0-60 and an absolute blast on the B-roads. And it doesn't cost a bomb to run. Also, with Euro exchange rates the way they are at the moment, you can sell a decent UK car for a lot of money to European buyers, so expect to pay more for an official UK import. It's actually getting difficult to find UK cars at a good price at the moment.
tooquicktostop
Thanks for this info I am going to pick my new one up on Sat morning, gone for something a bit older to allow the easer fit of a super charger and less pain on my wallet, its only a toy so I have made a decision with this in mind (for once !!) Still a lot of fun for the money and if it makes me smile half as much as my Camaro did I will be happy , now wheres that country and western CD gone
