add heywood
Would a faulty water temp sender make it virtually impossible to start your car from cold? My power fc has picked up a fault with it and the car won't start.
Chris Wilson
Quite possibly if it's telling the ECU it's hot. Measure its resistance when cold.
add heywood
Ok I had a llok on the FC Commander and the Water Temp Sender was highlighted, am I right in thinking there are 2 senders clsoe to the block near the top rad hose? Around here: Had a look at the connections and one of the wires had snapped as it enters it. There was no chance of re-connecting it. As I was taking the connector of the other wire kindly snapped aswell Whats the best course of action now, as I have 2 wires that I cant connect back up to the sender unit. This is the connector Can I buy a new connector from Toyota, as it looks like its patterned for that particular sender.
Steve
The sensor with the single wire goes the water temp gauge on the dash, the 2 wire plug goes to the ECU. I guess you can get them from Toyota, I need to source one aswell.
Terminator
Let me look in my spares box I may have some. I have one for an oil temp sender, not sure if it is the same size, if so it could be soldered. Terminator
Sorry looks like I only have the oil sender plug. If it is like most other Mr T plugs you may be able to take it apart and solder the wires on. If you like bung it in the post and I'll try and put some tails on for you. PM for details. Guest lladro1947
I had same problem tried to repair but it fell apart you can't buy from toyota, best thing is to go to scarp yard find connector the same
Nic
A lot of the plugs are not available to buy separately, only as part of the complete loom. You could try identifying which one it is on the attached file and see if your local Toyota dealer can source (part number for each plug below diagram). If not as said try a breakers.toyota plugs.pdf
