gaz1
I bidded on a supra on Ebay and lost to a higher bidder, i then get a second chance offer from Ebay to buy it at my bid price, as the original buyer never turned up, so i contacted the guy through "ask a question on ebay and he said if i pay the money through Ebay i can have it, now it had the new buy it now price of my bid, i very nearly paid for it but thought i will ring the guy up (after finding the orignal ebay add) and the guy told me he had sold it and did not put a second chance offer through ebay:blink: so i have been playing this "other guy by saying i will pay the money through ebay monday" which is what he wants obviously this is some sort of scam but how does it work as the second chance offer has the original sellers details on the add:search:

Meko
his account will have been hacked into. You hit BIN, pay through paypal and it goes to somebody elses Paypal account. They leg it with the money, you turn up for a car that's been sold, realise you've been done and the have to try and get your money back

marbleapple
But you rang the guy? Usually hackers don't post there phone number up for you to ring. I wouldn't trust it though mate. If it were a £10 item then fine but not a car. If you are buying a car only ever pay cash when you have the car in front of you. Paypal won't give you protection
Professor Kenny
This. It happens a lot Certainly does - happened to me fairly recently with a guitar I placed a bid on. It went higher than I could afford, and sold - then I got a second chance offer for loads less than it had gone for, but to put the money in escrow and with all sorts of strange conditions attached O_o

Meko
This. It happens a lot Happens the other way around too. People pay by Paypal and the collect, a few days later they raise a case with Paypal that they haven't received their goods. As they were collected the seller has no proof that they were 'delivered' and Paypal give the buyer their money back.
