adnanshah247
Well guys, being in debt has not only driven me crazy but its starting to take over my life, i cant sleep properly and im getting so unnecessarily stressed. Im thinking at this point to either sell my car in the condition that its in or go ahead and break her. Anybody care to tell me what shes worth? Single 6psd manual at around 50k miles with 1 year MOT and tax. body work needs attention and manifold requires replacing. other than that i have spent tens of thousands on her. I know that in 2 months ill be out of this debt as ill have enough money coming in but its just this current moment, i owe too many people and its beginning to get to me, i cant concentrate on anything at all and my university work is beginning to get on top of me. being a student i cant get a loan from the bank. i have asked family and friends but had no success. Im in a real stuck position now, i dont want to loose the tens and thousands i have invested in my car for just a 5k debt but were to go?!?!?! Matt H
Sorry to hear about your problems mate If it's any consolation I'd be interested in your 6-speed box

AndyT
Can't you ask the creditors to lower your repayments for a couple of months mate? You've probably been down that route though. I hope you get it sorted Adnan. Wouldn't want to see you have to sell for the sake of 5 grand.
Guest jdwals
Two months is not a lot of time (even though it may feel it) - if you are 100% sure you will have a sufficient income coming in after that time to change your situation around then I would beg, borrow, steal or bluff my way over the next two months as losing the amount of money you have invested in the car is something you will look back on with regret after you turn the corner. If it is a bank loan ask them if you can put the next two months (assuming that is how it is structured) repayments off - sure you will get a bit more interest charged but two months won't kill ya. If a credit card, then make the minimum payments over the next two months and then zap it when the money comes in. That is IF you are sure you will be able to cover after the next two months. If not and the debt is pushing you to the edge - sell the car (or break it, could be faster) - it's only a car at the end of the day and you can get a new one to start over with when you have got over the hump. michael
What happened to this one? http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=199243 i owe individuals the money Andy, no lenders thank god so no interest. my issue is i owe lots of people, if i owed one person then i wouldnt be stressed but its the headache of multiples. Sounds like someone needs to sort their priorities out and get rid of the fancy show-off-mobile status symbol.

Guest jdwals
If you owe individuals rather than institutions, could you go to a bank and get a five grand loan to cover your individual commitments? It is not a lot and your folks could go guarantor for you if needed. That way you clear the messy small loans and have one single loan with set repayment dates to take the pressure off you. Might be worth exploring if you have not already.
The Raven
Its a car like i said before, in 10 years time you will see that getting rid of a car to fund real life issues is the only sane thing to do. I have now sold two supras to fund other things, I miss my UK car like hell but needs must
TonyP
Get your priorities right for goodness sake. I know this is sacrelege to some people but it's only a car. Your a student with a ridiculously expensive car/money pit. Sell it, sort out your debt, finish your studies, get a good job and then you can start building a better one. RobD
^^ Good idea! If your mum and dad would act as your guarantor then you should get a loan giving your credit report is good!

supra_aero
No idea you had all these issues going on Adnan - hope you get it sorted. Why not declare it off the road and get rebate on the tax for now and tell insurance its not being driven (hopefully it'll lower it - or even put it fully on your grandpas/dads name for the time being). And clear your debt issues in the meantime

martini
i tried getting a bank loan, because i have a student account they cant give me a loan. Amazed you could afford your car in the first place as a student! There's no quick fix for this kind of thing... short of liquidating assets. You'd miss her if you sold her, but not being in debt is an amazing feeling. Then every penny you save towards a new Supra is your own and no-one elses. Guest jdwals
Have you spoken with your parents about this - did they have any advice? If in a university, is there a student support service you could speak to for advice? I know you are a student but any places give student loans where you are located? They were all the rage here in Ireland a while back. To do a variation of a quote of Sherlock Holmes, when you eliminate the impossible, what ever remains, no matter how distasteful, must be the only way forward. As others have said, if you exhausted your other options, use the car to finance your way out of the current situation and look forward to when you can get back behind the wheel of another one in the future. martini
If in a university, is there a student support service you could speak to for advice? They would ask if you had any assets to sell... and he certainly does! I got my N/A because it was the best Supra I could get for the money (that I actually have). Maybe sell and get a nice N/A? j_jza80
I feel for you Adnan, i'm a student now too and I just can't afford to use my Supra like I used to. I'm going to have to sell it which breaks my heart, but needs must. I'm lucky really as I'll be in a position to but an NA when I have sold it, even though it has less than half the power of my current Supra (and my last one infact ) Could you do something similat? I know it's not the same as having a TT or a single, but even an NA is a ruddy nice car! Hope you get sorted mate. I'm actually quite interested in building a 6 speed NA with either a 1jz or 2jz direct injection FSE engine. (same power as the VVTI NA engines with an extra 20% fuel economy on the Japanese urban MPG tests apparently in the various Toyota models they've been tried in)

Abz
Adnan, sorry not had a chance to call you back over the last couple of nights. I've been finishing work at 6\7pm due to a lot of project work on at the moment & I don't like loose ends. I'll try calling you this weekend or tonight & we can see if we can find some options. Either I know you are happy to give up your car if you HAVE to, but lets see how it pans outs. Hopefully you won't have to and can buy a little more time.
