CJ
Well that wasn't very successful. I got into the set up screen and had a list that included "advanced bios features" but the sub menu didn't show anything like "halt on". I then checked the other menus and sub menus and it doesn't appear there either.

Least you got into the bios. 2 ticks i'll reboot my lappy and see if it has anything like that (might not as its a lappy).
Scott
Is there a "Quiet boot". It should just be under the main, I don't think its an advanced option. Did you enable Legacy Hardware?
CJ
The only bios option available was advanced no standard option. Unfortunately, in order to go back and have another look, I would need to shut down and start again each time

CJ
Surely before going into Advanced you are in non-Advanced? you'd have thought so but no. I hit del and it takes me to a set up screen. it then gives me Standard CMOS features - Advanced Bios features etc but no "standard" version

CJ
Standard cmos features is standard I just shut down and went back to the start up menu again and looked at the CMOS options. they are: system time system date IDE Device Config I then looked at the Integrated peripheral menu as the description said something about USB. It shows the following: Onboard FDC - Auto " serial port 1 - Auto " " " 2 - auto Parallel port - Auto Par port mode - ECP Midi port - disconnected game port - disconnected Onboard IDE - Both (other options Disabled, Primary, Secondary or both You wont be far wrong if you assume that the above means FA to me

CJ
Well, after looking at every available screen, I finally gave up the ghost and got a USB to PS2 adaptor. I reckon that the mobo is so old, it doesnt have the features we all expected (at least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) . I now have a seperate problem (again eh?) in as much as I am now getting the dreaded blue screen crash quite regularly. I "think" it is to do with the recently fitted new RAM as the only other thing changed was a new DVD writer - but I cant be certain. So, methinks I should now take it back to the shop that fitted the RAM and ask him to investigate - what thinks you folks?

CJ - Sounds like potentially faulty RAM. I would take it to the shop, and while there ask them to turn off the error thing. Age of the motherboard should have no bearing on that option, I haven't seen a motherboard that doesn't have it.... other than lappy MB's. The legacy option is known to not feature with some MB's. Either that or bin it and buy a lappy. Much less hassle lol.
