Trying to figure out what this part is.

Aftermarket bumper was fitted, radiator had to come out etc.. now this little plug thing is resting just under the air con near the front bumper. it looks like its been threaded up to sit there so its potentially from somewhere around the middle underside of the engine.

Anyone know what it is please?? im stumped.. and its really bugging me.:search:

I'm getting deja vu with these pics. Did someone else not post up the question a few days/weeks ago? Was it yourself?

Just wondering as the answer might already be found for you. Not sure what to search for though lol.

Something to do with an active spoiler maybe?

It is Deja vu, yes. My apologies for a repost. Its a seperate issue to the other rpm problem.

I originally thought this was causing the low rpm issue, but my mechanic told me he is pretty confidant thats not the cause (narrowed it down to a vacuum issue). We just cant find where it is supposed to plug in.

If it was plugged in before, I am not comfortable with it now being unplugged unless I know its not important.

The cable its attached to is long enough to touch the floor, so it must have been plugged in prior to the new bumper going on.

I dont know if the car ever had an active spoiler, there is no button on the dash anywhere.

Im still trawling through the workshop manual CD I got from ebay, but not havng much luck.

Thanks again

The 2nd horn?

Our first thought was the horn but that one was plugged in - the wiring diagrams do show a "LH horn" and "RH Horn" connector but when I have the bonnet up I can only see one horn (which is the one connected).

The cable comes in from the drivers side and ends roughly in the middle of the bumper under the bonnet catch.

Im going to have a look for a 2nd horn tomorrow before I set off to work.

Ruled out the courtesy bonnet switch as the light telling me a door is open comes on when bonnet is up / not locked down properly (assuming that is what its there to do). That switch appears to be in that area.

It could be something to do with the air con.. but that had all the gas removed during installation / repair of bumper so I cant test that to see if it works yet.

I appreciate the suggestions though :) thankyou. I wish I could remember how the horn sounded before to do a comparison lol.

The 2nd horn is about halfway down the front of the radiator, slightly bias to the drivers side middle. If you check out toyodiy.com you will get a parts diagram of approx where it sits.

Is the connection on the horn the same? Why not swap them over and see if the horn still sounds. If it does then thats your answer.

If not then i would guess something to do with the aircon.

Going to give that a try tomorrow Scott - the thought never occured to me to swap them over.

I just finished going through the air-con document that came on the CD and there is a couple of possibilities (diagrams are difficult to follow at times), so if its not the horn then that is my next move (as you mentioned).

Found the horn on toyodiy - 86520, I think thats going to be hidden behind the plastic bit that the plug has been threaded up through.

I appreciate the help =) going to get some shuteye and have a go before I head to work tomorrow. :)

Scott buddy - you ara legend! It is indeed for the 2nd horn that I didnt even know was there (coming to think of it im not sure if its still there).

I cant get at where it is because theres a plastic cover that prevents me getting to it without having it raised up, but I unplugged current horn, checked to make sure no sound, then plugged this other plug into it and the horn sounded.

When I take it back to the garage I will get it plugged in once its up on the ramps - provided I still have the 2nd horn in place. I dont remember seeing it last time I was looking though.

Thanks for the help :)

*Edit* Judging by the electrical diagrams, now I know where to look, that other blocky plug that has a push-in connector attached should in theory be the "AC ambient temp sensor" or the "Engine hood courtesy switch".

It is, especially when the RPM is dropping and I had no clue why lol. At least now I know what that is.

Will be searching for the vacuum leak on Friday. It keeps feeling like it will die on my at the lights when revs drop low. One step closer to having it all sorted :)
