Snooze
So - if over-population is an issue, sending fooding to starving people in 3rd world countries is a bad idea, then - or - in fact, doing anything to prolong lifespans. It's an interesting train of discussion - where do you draw the line before you start actually culling people?
Scooter
I think it's more 'save OUR planet', as in, keep it as it is now, with plenty of food, lots of fuels to burn, and an easy lifestyle with conveniences to make our easy survival even easier. That was sort of my point, we say save the planet but effectively mean saving ourselves by safe guarding its resources.........the trouble is we (Humans) are not all equal, some countries happen to be more powerful, some more populated, some hampered by the climate, some thrive because of it.......but most are no longer fully self sufficient and so many of us are draining the same resources, with possible consequences in the long term of fighting for/over them to ultimately them running out. Scott
if god wanted us to be vegetarian he wouldnt have invented meat. If it wasn't for meat, and fire obviously, we would still be picking flies from each others fur.

More good points. Did you know that Qatar is trying to lease land in Kenya so that food can be grown for its citizens. This would, in effect, prevent the peoples of the Tana river delta from continuing to live off the land as they have been doing for thousands of years. martini
We'll basically f**k ourselves in the end and all we are doing at this time is trying to save the planet in a way which only really benefits us. Like I said earlier. The planet will be fine once we're gone. Agree 100% on each point you've made in this thread - almost to the extent that I feel I wrote it! if god wanted us to be vegetarian he wouldnt have invented Burger King.
