Sponsoring a child

Recommended Posts

So I was on the underground on my way to my friends (sitting really uncomfortably) when I noticed an advert in the corner of my eye.

I was trying not to make eye contact with the Goth opposite me, in fear she may be yearning for her next victim.

‘Sponsor a child’… What a great idea. Something I have wanted to do for a very long time (I’ve already sponsored orangutans, and regularly donate to Breast/Testicular cancer research)

I already also donate to the NSPCC. I thought however it would be so much better to have a more personal communication with a child I have sponsored. Seeing them develop for example would give me a lot of fulfillment.

Then I thought - How trusting are these types of organizations? How do I know all or at least the vast sum of my money is going to the child? How do I even know that the person writing to me really exists, and isn’t going into some banking ring on the opposite side of the world, making the rich even richer?

So after that entire waffle, my question really is - Who are the REAL trusting companies who you can sponsor a child through? Are there any who may be better then others?

Am I hung-over?...

I am in no way personally affiliated with the charities linked in this thread, nor do i know anyone who is - other then in the form of a regular donator.
