swich
I've quit for two weeks cold turkey. The hot and cold sweats the coughing and the craving i can handle, but my chest ! I've had pain breathing, and the pain moves over night (when i do sleep). Its the worst pain i've ever had (and i've had my large intestine removed). Can anyone shed some light on how long this pain is going to last? Thanks.

TonyP
Stick with it its well worth it!! It's gonna get worse but trust me it's worth it. I've just passed three years. The first six months are the worst. after that if you go back to smoking you're an absolute ****. Good luck and stick at it. Every time I was tempted it was the thought of being right back at square one and having to give up again that stopped me. Hope you do it. swich
I've had no craving to smoke so starting again isn't an issue, as for the tasting food read my first post again, food does not go well with me lol.
TonyP
Oh and you don't have to go cold turkey. Don't consider it a failure to need a crutch. Tobacco is one of the hardest drugs to kick. If you need help get some patches or lozenges. The lozenges helped me a lot.
jevansio
Like I say to anyone who's just quit...... (2 seconds while I take a drag and blow smoke rings in a most satisfying fashion) ... it'll pass

Don't worry mate, that pain will go away very soon. Just as soon as you start smoking again. Don't quit. We need you. Well said, That's exactly the sort of thing I would have said when I was smoking. I actually still don't think of myself as a non-smoker, rather a non-practising smoker.

Dnk
Ive just had to quit due to getting virul pneumonia, the doc said it would be a good idea as ive got damage to my left lung from the virus. I stopped on August the 25th this year and cant see what the big deal is to be honest, no patches just a bit of will power and im supprised how little its bothering me, a couple of times after a curry ive felt like a ciggy but other than that its much easier than i thought it would be. The only downside im not happy about is my taste is all over shop, beer and wine dont taste anything like they used to but not in a good way, they taste very metallic now but is that from quitting smoking or the pneumonia ? Miguel
As others have said, stick with it. I gave up the hard way just over two years ago and the few months of "torture" was sooo worth it. The benefits from not smoking make me question why I ever started in the first place. Good luck with it.
