GazzaGSi
Jeeze, well I've had the 360 a fortnight maybe, something like that and its got the 3 red rings flashing when I turn it on Its been used for no more than an hour on Forza and thats it. Been on Uncharted 2 so that took most of my time on PS3. Meant to be this new jasper technology or something to prevent the 3 red rings... Guess it hasn't. I dont mind if something breaks down after heavy use but an hour for 1 friggin' day is a joke As soon as a replacement comes from MS or whatever they do with it its going. Cant be doing with this crap. Pee'd off to say the least (Elite 360 120gb HDD)
pistonbroke
If it's failed that fast mate, you can exchange it from the place you got it from. Just swap the HDD with the exchange unit. ( I did this with my first one 2 years ago)
Porky1978
Feel for you buddy. I'm on my second xbox 360 because of the RROD. Not had a problem since i replaced it with an Elite though. Personally i think they are working on a replacement as ATI have already said they are making the graphics card for it.

GazzaGSi
Is it normal the whole thing just does nothing? The tray with the disc in wont even open...
pistonbroke
No, that doesn't sound right. What three lights are lighting up red?, as different combinations of lights mean different things. These ones are RROD http://gaygamer.net/images/daverrod.jpg
edd_t
damn man thats bad luck. had my elite for 2 year now with no probs and my original premium since launch with no probs. but the tray not opening doesnt sound like the usual RROD. where have you got the 360 situated, its got plenty of air getting around it yeh? pistonbroke
I've just read that the newer elite models also do the ring if there's a loose cable at the back. Double check all your connections.

Double check all your connections. Checked the HDMI and Power lead - all inserted as they should be. Plenty of air yeah. It was set up as in the pic for an hour or so's use then put back in the box for a week. Maybe a disc drive error then..? Here is a pic of the lights that are on:
pistonbroke
COuld be, the three red lights simply stipulate hardware failure. So it maybe just your luck unfortunately Modern warfare 2 is out next week too, best you get onto amazon sharpish

RobD
My gf's brothers xbox died the other day, came up with error code 47 I think it was, which means its completely dead so he tells me! He then buys another xbox arcade and puts his original hdd onto it, buys forza 3 and we've got it at ours at the moment , he bought forza at midnight on the day it came out, 2 days later my little one walks past in front off me when i was on it and had the controller plugged in to charge, the new xbox falls onto its side and gauges a lovely groove into the forza 3 disc! We thought this was it no more bad luck, took it to gamestation as the one in cambridge has a disc layer machine that takes grooves out slightly as the game wouldnt play, got it home it played for a few races then said clean disc, so in the end i bought him another copy to replace, and since last night his brand new xbox of less than 2 weeks has started to crash regulary, he aint a happy bunny! I think he's going to buy a ps3 tomorrow!
GazzaGSi
Tbh this is my first xbox and such a bad experience within acouple of hours play is more than annoying. Had the PS3 since launch and think its froze once. Ejecting the disc and putting it back in and the game carried on. Trying to remain positive

GazzaGSi
I must of pumped 40 hours in on PS3 since Monday, where you been I've been 'cough, cough splutter' off work so thought I'd nail Uncharted 2. Another plat to the list I thought I'd give the 360 a go as people have mixed opinions with the 360vsPS3 thing and wish I hadnt wasted my time:spank:

I've not been on it all week I don't think. Taking some time out to mend my trigger finger for next week. I couldn't even tell you how to switch the Xbox on, that's probably the only reason this ones no pooped itself yet.
Pot
What colour is the LED on the power supply? IIRC if it's amber or red, it's a fault with that, if it's green, it's a fault with the XBox... (I've got one going in for repair myself, 2 years old but my Elite's still going strong )
