It's to deal with someone choosing a lower gear instead of a higher one, overrevving the engine and trying to make the cambelt jump off. Chris Wilson Posted October 29, 2009 Share Posted October 29, 2009 Sudden torque reversal will make the belt tensioner pulley spring have a wobbler and the belt might come off due to going slack. The damper on manual versions stops it. You'd have to be a total animal with the gearbox and clutch to do it. dude Posted October 31, 2009 Share Posted October 31, 2009 what auto box and power was that at Dude That was the Boostlogic box and 4200 rpm converter, Power was enough to run 10's at mid 130's, it came off at Bruntingthorpe and the pod so after that I fitted the 6 speed damper and it never happened again, I THINK Leon also used to have to run one.
