Gaz6002
Could you imagine the new gun law and related new chav law? "Shoot to kill!" I think it would be harsh to exile all the banned members. Harsh but necessary.

Tannhauser
Agreed. If the victim was black or asian then it I bet the story would have been about a racial attack. Even if it was nothing to do with colour/obesity, then whoever the victim was, it would have been prejudice against them for whatever reason they felt they were being attacked for. Maybe the racists and discriminatory people are the ones pointing out colour, race and obesity to the rest of us, and stirring the shit. It's not really valid to compare the two situations (i.e. a racially motivated attack and an anti- obesity motivated one) is it? There is a long history of racial tension and racially motivated attacks, but there isn't an equivalent history for attacks on fatties. So I would suggest that - for example - an asian that was attacked at random has more cause to think that the attack was racially motivated, based on many other cases where the motives were abundantly clear. Maybe in the current climate we do tend to jump to conclusions about putative racism in every incident, but that's because racially-motivated incidents can and do occur with depressing regularity. tbourner
In this case though, it obviously was a fattist attack based on the comments made before the attack, but I'm sure there are a lot of cases where some brainless idiot beats someone up for no reason at all and the victim is left wondering why - they will then think "Is it cos I is fat?", or "Is it cos I is blue eyed?" etc. which obviously stirs up the media to run with that story. We are becoming much too 'ist'-ist now.
