Meko
what does it say as the year of manufacture? i've had 2 Celica's and my Supra, all 3 imports and all of them had the import year as the manufactured year. Just checked my V5 and on the inside page, 3rd line down (B.1) it has the date it was first registered in the UK
Guest grantmyra
right just checked that bit and date of first registration is the same as first registered in the uk 01/07/1996?? but on the front of v5 says was registered overseas? Tom
Date of registration on the V5 is when it came in and registered in this country, the registered overseas is simply that it was originally regsitered in Japan.

Tom
so you think was imported as new then? i wouldint have thought it from looking at it as its so clea? bodywork and underneath as well as engine bay are immaculate or are they all like that? Ahh, just re reading everything, ok think I know whats happened now, when your car was imported here it would have come with an export certificate which is needed when registering a car(you cant do it without it) i'm betting the importer took the date for first regsitered and incorrectly put this in the original date of regsiteration too, it's happened a few times with people getting number plates for the year the car came into the country rather than the year it was made, so there's a chance your 1996 car is infact older, basically the "original date of reg" is on the export cert, I'm doughting you have this now? Guest grantmyra
no no history of the car coming over here just some mots and reciepts for work done etc, i see what your saying and understand(say no more about it being older though!) lol only got 70 on clock, so is there anything i can do?? to find out? I've imported a few cars and still have copies of all the export certs but 90% do seem to go missing once registered. Check your vin plate to find out your exact year of manufacture might be worth knowing for piece of mind but i'm near 100% it was the importer that put the then "todays date" in both sections, I've near done it before, lol
